Ok guys, heres one

IF you stay in poly lagoon view, what are your chances of getting a castle view?? :teeth:

I would think it is nearly 100%, but I'm not sure. The Poly has a great location directly across from the MK so unless you have a big tree in front of your room, you should wake up a to great view of Cindy's Castle!

Don't get room 1518. It's first floor and has palm trees and other foliage planted directly in front of the room. I was VERY disappointed with our "lagoon view concierge room" that we paid a fortune for. It's the ONLY room in Hawaii that has foliage in front of the patio.

Hey YCFAN,

Did it look like this when you were there? This was taken a few weeks ago of room 1518 (last room on the left).

Minky,

I took quite a few notes and looked at every lagoon view room. There are a handful of rooms in Hawaii and Tahiti that have blocked views but more than 90% of the lagoon view rooms at the Polynesian have views of the castle unlike the GF and Contemporary where more than half the lagoon (or lake) views are not toward the castle.

I stood on each patio and looked toward the castle as I took notes.

Here is what I observed at Hawaii:

1518-3518 Has some small plants on the edge of the patio but do not block the view at all but the trees out on sunset point are surrounding the castle in the view but you can see the castle through them as well as fireworks and EWP.
1517-3517 have a clear view of the castle
1516-3516 have a clear view of the castle
1515-2515 look through many trees on the beach and garden area but 3515 may be up enough to see over these short trees.
1513-2513 is blocked by trees but 3513 may be up high enough to see over them
1512-3512 have a clear view of the castle
1511-3511 have a clear view to the castle
1510-2510 have a good view to the castle with some trees to the left
3510 may have more of the tree top blocking part of the view.
1509 looks at the castle through the tree trunks
2509 is blocked by more of the tree top
3509 may be high enough to be looking over the trees.
1508 is a good view through some trees. Not sure about 2508 and 2509 above it.
1507-3507 is a good view of the castle
1506 is a good view around some trees but the rooms above it (2506-3506) look blocked.
1505-3505 are good views of the castle
1504-3504 are good views of the castle with some trees to the left
1503-3505 are looking through trees
1502-3502 are looking through trees
1501-3501 are view through trees with the ground floor room having foliage next to the patio and partly in front of the patio.

These are my Tahiti lagoon view notes:
1038-3038 (end near TTC) seemed to have a great view of the castle
1037-3037 great view of the castle
1036-3036 great view of the castle
1035-3035 great view of the castle
1034-3034 great view of the castle
1033-3033 great view of the castle
1032-3032 great view of the castle (I have stayed in 2032 before)
1031-3031 great view of the castle
1030-3030 great view of the castle
1029-3029 (right next to the middle building entrance and there were many trees and bushes blocking most if not all the view.
Also remember there are some trees out along the beach which I can not tell it they block upper views but they did not appear to. You are also looking at the castle with the island in the middle of the view so you see the castle from about half way up it.
1028-3028 has a good view but has some foliage to the right of the patio of 1028
1027-3027 great view of the castle
1026-3026 great view of the castle
1025-3025 great view of the castle
1024-3024 great view of the castle
1023-3023 great view of the castle
1022-3022 great view of the castle
1021-3021 great view of the castle
1020-2020 has some tree bottoms to look through but 3020 looks at the tree tops.
1019-3019 seems to have a good view of the castle
1018-3018 great view of the castle
1017-3017 great view of the castle
1016-3016 great view with some trees off to the left
1015-2015 possible castle view with trees to the left 3015 looks like the tree tops may be in the way

Aotearoa rooms designated as lagoon views have views of the castle and all lagoon view rooms in Tuvalu have nothing in front of the room views.

It looks like they may have trimmed up a bit because you could see if you were sitting in the chair on the right but could not see if you were sitting in the one just as you exit the sliding door. We had to pull our chairs down to the end of the patio each night to get an unobstructed view. You also couldn't walk out of the room through the patio without stepping over bushes and rocks. Of course even the lawn looks well manicured in this picture and when we were there it seems that everything needed doing: grass cutting, pruning, etc. Maybe they were waiting to get ready for you just before you came but I was very disappointed.
We also didn't like that room because every time you went in or out of your room the outside sliding door would automatically open. It was doing the same thing with the one directly across the hall with garden view also. The carpet in the hallway ends at the room next to this one also and becomes tile in the front of this room. Several days we had water standing in front of the room because the sliding doors would get stuck open and the rain would blow in. I felt like it was an outside room instead of in a hallway.

Yeah I had a little talk with them about your broken door but they are frustrated also because Disney management has gone with offsite maintenance in most cases and it takes longer to get things fixed but it is that way for all the resorts. I know many don’t like to be on the end of the building either.

Well there is always the YC right?

Hey Tikiman, that's right. That's why WDW has so many different resorts, right? I will admit that the decor was not my favorite but my biggest disappointment was when I brought a few of the things to their attention, the CM's in the concierge area didn't really seem interested in hearing about it and made me feel like they really didn't care. We did love 'Ohana and I liked sitting on the beach watching the EWP and fireworks. I just thought with the view we had booked that going out to the beach wouldn't be necessary. Another thing about the end rooms are people on the sidewalks tend to stop and gather there each evening to watch the fireworks (in front of the first floor rooms) so that forces us poor saps who paid for the room to go out and view from the beach. Maybe second or third floor wouldn't have this problem. It'll be back to the YC for us and maybe try GF or AKL at some point.

YCFAN, I've been 'lurking' on any Polynesian threads and visiting Tikiman's website as we're 99% sure our next trip to WDW we'll stay @ the Polynesian. We were just @ WL in July and love the place, but DD11 has always wanted to stay at Poly. We've been on the grounds, eaten @ Ohana (love the character breakfast!) and Kona Cafe, but have no idea what view/rate, etc. to request. We haven't even figured out when we'll visit next!

I did want to let you know that if you're considering AKL, you should definitely give it a try! We stayed Savannah View in 2003 and absolutely loved it!! We spent many early mornings on our balcony watching the animals!

TIKIMAN!!!!

I LOVE YOU!!! I am so honored that you replied to my post, I know you are THE authoritative source on all things Poly, and what a wonderful response!! THANKS SO MUCH!! AND THANKS TO EVERYONE ELSE!!! Whiew! Ok, I feel much better about selling a kidney to stay at the Poly now :teeth:

Well thank you but you will find many people here that have tons of good advise and can show you the good and the bad about the Polynesian. All I ask is that you remember every resort has bad stories and don’t let a bad experience make you second guess your decision to try a resort. You never really know a place till you have tried it. If worse comes to worse I have heard of people switching resorts.

If you ever have questions you want to send me you can email me at steves5150@yahoo.com

We just returned from the Poly Concierge last night, and absolutely loved the service and convenience! We have 3 DDs and were located on the 2nd floor...1st door from the lounge(GCV) and couldn't have been happier! The view wasn't great, but we didn't spend much time in the room anyway! And let me just say that the CMs at the Concierge were absolutely wonderful during the hurricane!!!!:teeth:

We like the garden view rooms so much at the Poly that we don't think it's worth the extra $$$ to pay for LV - concierge or not. I wouldn't pay for concierge. It's just me and my DH and I don't think it's worth the extra $$. I can see where people with kids could say it's worth the $$$. I know kids eat a lot.
