ok, new to DL, so tell me your favourite thing

We are DVC members and know disney world like the back of our hands......
BUT
we are making the cross country treck to DL in August,

I would love to hear what everyone considers their "must do" I see there is priorty seating for a parade?, with a desert box?

anything you recomend is greatly aprreciated.....

I cant wait to go and we will have 5 days there....

To me that "must do's" are the little things that make DL so much more magical than WDW. Here are a few suggestions:

Look for Snow White's Apple and Twist it (Snow White Ride)
Look for the Evil Queen watching you (Above Snow White's Ride)
Make sure you ride Indy, Mr. Toad, Alice and Matterhorn since they are not at WDW oh and Buzz is so much better at DL
Watch the Flag Retreat Ceremony
Get a Cream Cheese Filled Pretzel
Eat at Plaza Inn (they have the best fried chicken and the decor is amazing )
Watch the Parade and Fireworks
Walk around Downtown Disney
Read the sign above the tunnel when you first walk in
Look at all the flowers
If you are there on Saturday night, watch the Swing Dancers
Sit on the Main Street porch and eat Ice Cream

There is so much that I must do everytime I go, if I think of anything else I will post it. When are you going?

For a WDW vet, in no particular order, you must:

1. Ride Indiana Jones

2. Ride Pirates of the Caribbean

3. Get a skewer at the Bengal BBQ (the bacon and asparagus is yummy).

4. Eat at the Blue Bayou, waterside table.

5. Ride Space Mountain

6. Ride Matterhorn

7. See Aladdin the musical at California Adventure park.

8. Ride Alice in Wonderland

9. Ride the Storybookland Canal Boats. (it's quite pretty at night)

10. Ride Mr. Toads Wild Ride.

11. See Fantasmic (you really should see the DL version of this show).

12. See the Electric Parade

13. Ride Grizzly River Run

14. Ride California Screamin'

15. Ride the new Toy Story Mania

16. Get a bread bowl and some beer on the pier at California Adventure.

17. Watch the fireworks from the hub. (Awesome show w/great laser effects)

18. Take a stroll through DTD and listen to the musicians.

19. Ride the train through Primeval time.

20. Everything else that I've left out.

What season are you going? So far I agree with everything suggested but may I add:

Check out the DL hotels, or at least the Grand Cal and the DLH.

Ride the monorail, it's not as cool as WDW but you get to go through the GC and it takes you to DTD.

Go to the Haunted Mansion, to see the differences.

Definitely eat at Blue Bayou.

I love Carnation Cafe so must put in a plug for them. There's nothing like being on Main Street eating your lunch and people watching or a parade if your lucky and time it right.

How about the Roger Rabbit ride it Toontown. The themeing is fun too. My son loves going through the jail and pushing his way out!

I like the looks of the Bugs Land is DCA but my son is too old to enjoy it that much but do go and look at the detail. It was very well done and creative too!

Is there anything in the Lincoln Theater? I'm afraid I don't know what happened after the 50th movie was supposed to be removed I personally really enjoy Moments with Lincoln.

Definitely do the ice cream on Main St at closing some night. It's a peaceful and enjoyable way to end the night.

I like to split a chicken fusilli(sp) at Redd's.

I'm sure there's more but that's what comes to mind!

Yes it's out front at the start of the que(sp). It is a gold apple.

Oh gosh, I think it's where you first walk in to get in line. I have actually never riden Snow White at DL before but have played with the apple. There is a Golden Book and apple and when you touch the apple you make the witch laugh.

I think you have it all!!!! Oh wait-

Check out Toontown. It's MUCH better, and Roger Rabbit is a fun classic style dark ride. I prefer Toontown after dark, when it's not as crowded.

I don't do well on most rides ( I would die doing the teacups ) so my favorites are:

Peter Pan
POC
Winnie the Pooh
Autotopia
the fireworks
fantasmic
the parade
and anything else that doesn't require spinning, dropping or being thrown about.

The fireworks are much better at DLR--you must see them!
We also love:
seeing the Billys in the Golden Horseshoe
Having a bread bowl and margarita in DCA
Breakfast at Storyteller's Cafe in the Grand
Monster's Inc ride in DCA
The First 50 Years show on Main St
Buzz!

etc, and so on...........

I forgot to add the Anamation building in DCA! WE oftern spend more than an hour in there, and it has the added plus of being nice and air-conditioned!

All of the parades and shows are great! so do them if possible, I loved them. Some of the rides are quite different then the equivalent at WDW, which i was quite surprised by. And ride in the front of the monorail, its a whole different experience at DL! Have fun!
