Well, of course, you'll be at DLR during the absolute best time ever, which is the Christmas season (at least I feel it's the best time ever!). That adds a different dimension to things. The season will be in full swing. Do you want to see the holiday parade? Do you want to visit Santa in one of his 4 or 5 locations around DLR? Do you want to catch the Christmas carolers around DLR? Do you want to be sure to catch the 'snow' falling on Main Street and see the gorgeous IASW Holiday lit up in thousands of colored lights at night? Do you want to make sure to get that special nighttime photo in front of the Winter Castle, when it's totally illuminated with sparkly 'icicle'?

While I've never been during Thanksgiving itself, reports on the board are that the parks get increasingly busy as you approach Turkey Day. OTOH, we went last year starting the Sunday after TG, and the week after was wonderfully uncrowded.

Based on that, I'd do your other activities first (Hollywood, Newport Beach), and arrive DLR for Thanksgiving itself. Then spend the rest of your time enjoying the great holiday ambiance at DLR that Sherry has described.

Enjoy! It sounds like a wonderful trip!

Oh, that's a great idea! I agree. You're right - I heard the exact same thing, that DLR is quite crowded in the couple of days leading up to Thanksgiving, but as soon as it passes, it's not bad at all (at least, that was the case for the last couple of years - who knows what will happen now that World of Color is there?). This is funny, because it used to be the opposite case years ago - it used to be uncrowded before Thanksgiving and super crowded immediately afterwards.

But that's a good idea - do all the non-DLR stuff first and then hit DLR on Thanksgiving and beyond.

thanks for the replies!! i think we will do just that.....just a little concerned about traffic (driving up to hollywood esp!!) right before holiday....

Are you flying into LAX? If so, why don't you get a hotel for one night near there, do Hollywood on your arrival day, and then drive down the next day?

Just a suggestion ...

that would be a great idea, but no, we are flying into sna...i got really good airfare yday on swa....69$ each way!

thanks again!:wizard:
