I don't know if I'm in the right area but who best to ask then girls that are getting married. At the last minute I decided to surprise my wife with a one night(April 25th) trip to Disney for our 10yr anniversary (wanted to do VR but wall street had a different outlook for me).I'm putting this together as we speak.I only have the plane ticket down with no return ticket yet.:eek:Rented points from a member and snaged a studio at BWV.I really wanted CG (her favorite)for dinner but have a Narcoose's ressie (keep trying for CG).Now like I said its a surprise and there is one thing I forgot to mention,we have yet to go away by ourselves without the girls. She won't go and everytime I mention to take her away at anytime the response is,"the girls are coming right"? Well this time their not.Now I plan on telling her were going to Disney friday night after we drop the girls off at my moms.We have a early morning flight on Sat. so the girls are staying at my moms all weekend. Now I know instead of being thrilled she going to be pissed off that the girls aren't coming.I know her well,we have been together for over 20 yrs.Now for the questions, first how do I go about telling her of the surprise, and I would like a cake for dessert can I have a smaller version of one of these wedding cakes I have seen on another thread?.HELP..........:lmao:

Hmmm... I think it is an AWESOME idea and if my DF did something like this I would be over the moon!
Would it be worth while to butter her up some before you tell her? Have a great night Friday. Let's say maybe dinner and dancing, some flowers...let her pick the movie...what ever will work. All of her favorites and then just before you go to bed tell her to set the alarm for XXXX time b/c you both have a plane to catch. That might make her too excited or mad to sleep-but either way-she might fall asleep from pure exhaustion. :rotfl:

OR you could just set the alarm. Have her bags packed and wake her with enough time to get up get ready and get to the airport. That way she can't really fight-she'll be caught up in the whirlwind of it all.
She might stew on the airplane ride, but the magic of Disney should cure that.

To butter her up more...have flowers sent to the room...chocolates...what ever she loves.

As for dinner and things of that nature...take a look there is a couple of threads about private dining, watching fireworks, and anniversary cakes. It is all possible!!! :wizard:

Congrats on your anniversary!!! I think what you're doing is so romantic--I would :lovestruc it if my DH did something like that. I can't help you with how to tell her the girls aren't coming (because again, I'd :lovestruc that kind of surprise :rotfl:) but I think I can help with the cake. If you're eating Narcoose's you can order a cake from the GF bakery. I've seen some of their cakes on the cake thread over on the restaurant board and they do some great ones. You can call the "cake hotline" - 407-827-2253 - and follow the prompts for the GF. Have a great time!!!!

One more thing--if you decide to do a custom cake you'll want to call soon. I think they need at least 48 hrs. notice:goodvibes.

She loves chocolate....never have been a flower kind of guy though.I had thought about going to dinner friday night and getting a few drinks in her and then telling her.:rotfl:She always tells me I'm not a romantic guy.Well I think she will be eating those words soon.:woohoo: I'm going to call the cake hotline number and see if I can explain what kind of cake I would like. Will update what happens.:upsidedow

This all sounds so romantic

If the grand 1 yacht is still available that might be another great option for dinner and fireworks...

I would just have the bags packed, set the alarm and wake her up in time to go to the airport. I think its the best way. Don't tell her where you are going just yet. Then on the way to the airport have the kids call and wish her a good night away at disney world. Make sure to have the kids tell her that they are ok and that they want her to have a great weekend away.

I think if she hears from the kids that they are happy for her to get away and that they are going to have a great weekend without her - she will be a lot more relaxed.

I think may want to tell her Friday night. I know I wouldn't like it if DF packed my bags for me. But that's just me...I like packing my own clothes.

But you could have something nice waiting in the room for her: go to Disneyflorist.com

I can't imagine anyone would be mad if their significant other planned a surprise trip to Disney...but I'd want to pack my own clothes.

Some places (Gertrude Hawk maybe) has chocolate roses. 2 birds one stone :rotfl: Definitely get a couple of drinks in her...:drinking1

That sounds super romantic. She may be mad at first but after she sees what you did she is going to love you for it!!!!

Well ladies, thanks so far for the support and ideas.Just to let everyone know I just grabbed a return flight on cheapoair.com for $116 each total compared to the $250+ range:scared1:.I called the cake hotline yesterday and I thought I knew what I wanted until all the different choices I had to pick from. The filling is whats giving me the problem and time is ticking. My wife keeps busting my chops because she asks me if I made ressies for Sat. night at one of her favorite resturants near home and I tell yes and then she threatens to call to find out if I did and if I call her bluff she will.So I tell her I'll take care of it.So last night was one of those little heated debates about how its our 10yr anni and were going to do nothing.....yeah yeah yeah shes going to eat those words....:woohoo:We arrive around noon on Sat. what fun things or should I say romantic things can I do with her during the day? I want to make this day very special for her..............:rolleyes1

You're a good man. :thumbsup2
Are you planning on going to a park? If so, I'd suggest Epcot and go to Japan...have her pick a pearl and have it set in a piece of jewelry for her. Jewelry is always good.

If you are staying at the boardwalk then epcot would be easy. It doesn't sound like you have a ton of time on your hands. The pearl thing would be very romantic.

You could also just hang around the BW and rent a surrey cart and have fun.

I just keep thinking of all of these expensive thoughts... If you spend the day at epcot you could go back to the BWV and have a rolls from DFTW come and pick you up to go to dinner... I would love that.

Did you ever look into going to Victoria and Alberts for dinner?

:goodvibesI know if it were me just being in WDW would be romantic enough, and a surprise trip at that, you are truly a romantic at heart:lovestruc, your wife will be thrilled.

I do like the idea of buttering her up a bit and letting the kids tell her, that way she knows they are ok with it too. Also, if you pack her bag make sure you remember to pack everything lol. There would be nothing worse then getting to WDW and having to go on a hunt for socks or underwear lol!

During the day I love the pearl idea, my DF did that for me on our trip this year and I was over the moon! Also, the flower and garden festival is going on at Epcot and it has lots of beautiful things to see and explore. Just getting a glass of champagne in Epcot and walking around the world showcase would be spectacular, and very romantic. And you can score extra brownie points by buying a few croissants from the France bakery and saving them for Sunday morning breakfast on your balcony at BWV. Have a magical trip in the world, and let us know how you make out:goodvibes

I wasn't planning to visit any of the parks while we were there. We have been going at least twice a year for a while and I thought to do something other than hitting the parks.Something fun but in a relaxing way something that we(or she) never gets to do with the girls in tow.The pearl idea is great. We do that with the girls everytime we go so eventually when they have enough pearls to make a necklace they will have a memory of the times with me taking them to disney when I'm long gone.I have been throwing around the idea of making the girls tell her but the only problem is the little one is just as much a disney nut as myself and I don't think she will handle us leaving her home.Again tonight my wife brought up about dinner ressies and I told her I made them....trust me...I didn't tell her they were in disney though. How about a massage? Just having one day....hours is not enough...ugh....

a trip to the spa sounds wonderful! I bet she would be very happy to elax and have a nice massage at WDW, I hear great things about the spa at SSR and the GF. Good luck with your surprise!

Well I just off the phone with Christine at the GF and ordered the cake.Talk about the 48hr deadline.I did a 6in. "castle in the stars..gold and silver" less the castle but told her to tell the chef to do something fancy on top..."surprise me", I said. She was wonderful, very helpful and honest. I can't wait to see what the chef designs. On another note,I think I'm going to do the massage for her..Ugh..another phone call...hope it goes as good as the cake call went....nothing like the last minute...I love the pressure...

hi guys I'm neew to the boards and love them! On this, it is very romantic but I would still make the reservations at her favorite restaurant to throw her off in case she checks! You can always cancel Friday night or Saturday morning (unless youy have to guarantee your reservation)
