OK Ladies - I have a pregnancy question...

2 months for us (after being on the pill for 8 years). I'm pregnant with our first and due in July. :)

Ok, no I am not pregnant yet...but DH and I have decided 2011 is the year we will try...actually gonna start trying in a few weeks...meaning I am going off my birth control. It has been recommened I finish my Rx as normal, then just all together stop..

So my question is this...I am trying to get an average here...how long did it take for you to get pregnant after stopping birth control. I know everyone is different, I am just trying to get an idea..ya know..

We decided in December 1995 that maybe it would be a good time to get pregnant, so I went off my pills on January 1 when my new insurance (which included maternity coverage) went into effect. I was pregnant that month, and my DD was born in October 1996.

I had been on birth control pills and we just decided that after one period, I wouldn't start the next round of pills. I really expected it to take a few months, but we got lucky.

Six years.

Then, after acupuncture treatments...three months.

It took us 23 months with two losses that were both unexplained. It really started to define me. We moved to FL to relax and enjoy ourselves for two years with NO plans to get pregnant. We were here for less than two months and I was pregnant.

One month all three times. I'm very lucky that way.

First month off birth control for both my boys.

It really does vary- my mom had to try awhile, one of her sisters never conceived, the other is super fertile. The fertile sisters daughter had a lot of issues ( IUI, IVF and still didn't get pregnant) While I had no problems.

I hope it happens for you quickily!

I think the better question is, "How long did it take for your cycle to get back to normal?" If I had known it was going to take as long as it did, I would have gotten off the pill much sooner. (Actually I hate the pill, it's evil!!)

So to answer that question, after discontinuing the pill, it took me over 3 months to ovulate for the first time, and then I'd ovulate every 2 months after that. Until I took clomid, which helped a bit.

Anyway, long story short, I'm still not pregnant after TWO years, including 4 IUI's and an IVF. I don't wish this crap on anyone. I'm sorry for all you other ladies that have gone through infertility, and/or are still going through it. (and FYI, no one else in my family--that I know of--has experienced infertility)

I am with the others who recommended Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Great book, lots of good information and an easy read. Temperature charting is great too. It allowed me to see if/when I was ovulating, since my cycles were soooo long.

I hope your cycles are NOT like mine and even out in no time! And that you do not have to go through any of what my DH and I have. Good luck and baby dust!!!

I had been on BC off and on for 15 years but was on for three years prior to going off to TTC. I stopped taking the pill mid cycle when we found out DH was going to be sent to Iraq. I got pregnant with DD the next cycle.

With DS I was on the pill. I missed the first pill of my pack and took it the next day then I was a few hours late taking a second pill the following week. Oops...but in a good way. :)
