OK Ladies - I have a pregnancy question...

7 months the first time, 5 the second. I have two friends who got pregnant on the first try - twice! They are super fertile I guess. Most of us are not that lucky.

Wasn't trying the first time... the second time we were married on May 25th and we found out we were pregnant on July 4th... so it didn't take very long.

Posted earlier, but wanted to add that I had been on BCPs for 7/8 years before going off and it took 3 months.

Was on BC for 10 years before trying for #1, then again for 3 years before #2. Got pg immediately both times.

I have been off the pill for almost 4 years and I'm still not pregnant (no medical explanation for it, either.)

Hope you have better luck!

I'm the first as well, but since there is a 1 in 2 chance of losing one of twins, with no sign of m/c (vanishing twin syndrome - absorbed back into the body), and u/s used to be at 20 weeks instead of 7, many could've been initially pregnant with twins, and never known.
I often wonder if my 2nd sister was a twin, only because she is left handed. I've heard it's very common for one twin to be right handed & one to be left handed. One of mine is right & one if left.

I have a friend with a singleton, a set of twins, a set of twins that were lost & an additional set of twins born healthy. Her first son is left handed, her 1st set of twins is one righty & one lefty. Her youngest set are still too young to determine.

My doctor is putting me on BCP so I can try again sooner (I have to wait 2 cycles), and said that most women are actually very fertile right after coming off the pill.

That's exactly what my GP told me. I got pregnant during the first cycle after coming off the pill with DS (I was 34) and during the second cycle with DD (at 37).

Went off the pill in 2008 and I am still waiting to get pregnant. No medical problems here either, just no luck. And I was only on the pill for about 2 years before I went off of it.

Hope you have better luck!

This was years ago, but first child, went off oral contraceptives in January, got pregnant in April. Second child, went off oral contraceptives in September, got pregnant in November.

DS11 - 6 months
DD7 - 1 yr (I needed progesterone and once I got put on that I got pregnant the following month.)

I got pregnant the first month after stopping the pill (I'd been on it for 6 years) but that pregnancy ended in missed m/c at 8/12 weeks. But I got pregnant again the first normal cycle after my d&c and my dd is now 5 months old!

2 of my 4 were "not trying, but not preventing" babies. My daughter, though, was a BIG surprise.

My 2nd son was 6 mos old when I found out I was 4 1/2 months pregnant with her. AND I'd been on Depo-Provera the whole time, so no periods to miss. 99.9% effective, my foot. :lmao:

We were trying for my youngest, and it took literally 1 day--our 1 day honeymoon. :cloud9:

Good luck!!

2 weeks! Yeah, boy was I surprised, even though it was "planned". My sympathies to anyone who has struggled with infertility.

Just wanted the OP to be ready. We planned for a springtime baby and got a Feb. one.

I was 31 and was on the pill for eleven years before I stopped and tried to get pregnant. It took 8 months before I got pregnant. I never went back on the pill between my pregnancies and it only took two months to get pregnant the second time. Good luck! Keep us posted. :);)

It took me 4 years with my first. Found out I had PCOS.
With my second it took us 2 months with the help of Metformin and Clomid which is also what I eventually conceived on with my first.

I was 18 when I started trying for my first. We started trying shortly after we got married. Blessed with two girls we are now done. ;o)

Id been on birth control for 10 years when we decided to start our family. I went off the pill, started prenatal vitamins, stopped drinking caffine, basically de-toxed. I think i did that for about 3 months, then we started trying. Got pregnant the 2nd month.

Did the same for baby #2 and #3 got pregnant the first month with both.

Good luck!

10 months, but it was sooo worth the wait! I highly recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It has to be the BEST book and was extremely helpful!

Almost 4 years here. Unexplained infertility. Thank goodness for IVF as all other treatments failed. Now my tubes are tied to prevent any surprises.

I also recommend Taking Care of Your Fertility. I'm a huge supporter of charting (temping, opks, checking CM, etc).

We did NFP after my first--but prior to my first I was on the BCP. I opted to discontinue once we reached our first anniversary (June)--but we weren't "trying". We took the "whatever happens, happens" approach. I had a BFP in November and she was born the following July. So I hazard a guess that it took 2-3 months, but I wasn't paying attention to cycles or anything to know exactly. And since she was still covered in vernex at birth, she may have really been early as opposed to late, which would make that "how long did it take" time period up to a month longer

(didn't really notice this detail until we were viewing the baby video a few years later and the nurse asked my sister how early she was only to be shocked when my sister said she was a week late :confused3 I could only narrow the conception window down to an 8 week period. I didn't take good notes.:rotfl2:)--

Best of luck!
