I know things can change for anyone at any age. But SERIOUSLY! I didn't expect to be going through anything like this so soon. Crazy mood swings for the past 6months/year or so. And the hot flashes - ugh! On and off for the last couple of years, but it would happen every couple of months until recently. Now it feels like every week.
And here I sit - in my little personal puddle. I think I'll go stand out on the deck and cool myself off for a while. Sheesh - last night I made hot chocolate and covered myself in a blanket. Good grief!!

:confused3Glad to hear that I'm not the only one. I thought I was too young for this too. I turned 40 in January. Planning to make a doctor's appointment next week to find out what exactly is going on.:confused3

At my last checkup I asked about it and she just kind of said "if it gives you problems let me know". Gee - I thought I was.
I'm going back in a couple of months and I think I will remind her - and tell her in no uncertain terms "this is a PROBLEM! what's going on?"

I wouldn't mind going through this earlier rather than later...but I really don't want to deal with it for the next 15 or so years with no help in sight.
Maybe I'll look into evening primrose oil - I seem to remember that it helps.

All the women in my immediate family started at age 36... which is why my dr thought that was what I was going thru... it turned out to be a BABY!! :lmao:

I never had a cycle again after my son, and just like I had easy periods, I had a pretty easy change which was over before I realized I was going thru it.

Glad to be OUT of the Midol generation!!

I was 45 in April and the last 6 months I can definitely feel the start of peri-menapause. Break thru bleeding, acne (love that one  ) insomnia and while I don't have hot "flashes" I am hot all the time...blech!

Let's see I am 45, DD is 10, so in about 5 years, she will be deep into teenage angst and I will be firmly in menapause...and DH...he will be hiding in the basement! :rotfl:

I'm only in my late 20s and I've been getting them off and on since I delivered my daughter! I think to myself... if it's this bad now, what the heck will menopause be like? I'm already standing in front of my open freezer with my mouth gaped open. :sad2:

I'm 35, and it's starting for me. My mom was about the same age. I used to shower before bed, but that's next to impossible now since I get the worst night sweats.:sad1:

I started symptoms about age 40.... I am now 50 and still WAITING for menopause to be "complete"....

Get a thyroid panel done for hyPER thyroid, :)

I just turned 36 and have been going through peri-menopause for the last year or so.

Gotta love it.

Yep, I did, because it runs in my family. Doc says all my bloodwork came back normal, and that it's probably because I experience hormone fluctuations differently than normal women (for instance, I threw up at least 3 times daily until the end of my pregnancy.) :scared1: The joys of womanhood.

I started around 35 - finished menopause a month before I turned 48..

Odd little fact: Left-handed women tend to go through menopause at least 5years earlier than right-handed women.. (I'm a lefty..) I read that tid bit in a magazine at the doctors office..

What helped me with the hot flashes (which only happened at night) was 800 units of Vitamin E every day.. Of course I would not suggest anyone taking this without checking with their doctor first..

From the age of 35 on, I have always slept with no heat on in the bedroom (no matter how cold) and with the window open.. If you can't do that, I would suggest an oscillating fan near your bed and sleeping with the skimpiest type of clothing you feel comfortable in..

Also - do not use knit or flannel sheets - and turn your pillow over frequently when you are having trouble sleeping.. The underside will always be cool and has been proven to help people fall asleep faster..

My most severe issues were about the last 3 years or so - and then POOF! - it was gone!! Happy, happy day..;)

:scared1::scared1::scared1: That is crazy! I don't even want to think of that possibility at this point!!:rotfl:

I'll have to ask around the other gals in the family. I wonder if the timing has been the same for them.

My mom always said "in late out early". Meaning - I didn't have my first period until I was 14 so I would probably start menopause earlier than average.

Oh the joys...

The window is open every night...and dh is going crazy with the covers constantly being thrown over him and then stolen a little while later!:goodvibes My feet spend the night hanging out of the bed no matter what!
I find I need to keep an extra night-shirt by the bed - some nights I actually change and find the cool fresh shirt helps too.
I'll look into vitamin E too.
I can't imagine going through this for the next 10 years - my family will go crazy right along with me!

My Grandmother, my Mom and her 2 sisters all had their last periods at age 48. They kept telling me that when I was 48 it would be over. Now almost 51, still getting them about every other month. No hot flashes yet, which surprises my doctor. My aunt told me about a friend who is 56 and still going strong. Noooooooooooooooooo!

I'm 42 and i've had a few hot flashes. I'm not looking forward to menopause as I can't take any HRTs.

I don't do well with medications - even the simple ones - so I chose not to go the HRT route.. Menopause at 48 - and I'll be 61 next month.. No problems associated with lack of HRT..:goodvibes

Had every thing taken out at 31. Did not take the htr or anything after about 3 yrs. I found the pills made the hot flashes and night sweats worse. Now 11 yrs. later I have finally gotten over the flashes for the most part. Still get about 1 a month. :headache:

Please check with your Dr.
I had this and it was a liver problem.
