Ok Kevin...When are you going to the new Meatball Bar?

Havent been to Portobello in a while, but the last time we were there, we went with 6 adults.

Several of us sent our food back.

Two of us (two of the less critical members of our party) said that this was the worst food they ever had in their lives.

John's food looked like Alpo out of a can....and he had PASTA.

Our server was almost non-existent and when he did show up...he was rude.

It was just a disaster on all fronts.

Eventually, I'll get back to Portobello, but it will be with a bit of hesitation.

I read about that "meatball bar" idea last night. Doesn't sound too exciting to me. In fact, I don't understand why all of the Internet sites are calling it this to begin with. It's just an appetizer. Who would pay inflated prices for a meatball?

To be honest, I always shy away from meatball in restaurants. They always taste full of fillers to me. I guess that is the downside of having a Mom that makes spectacular meatballs! :)

The concept of a meatball slider is intriguing...they seem like a perfect concept. I'd be interested to her how this is.

I make meatball sliders at home, and they are really good. But, they are homemade, and have the potential to go very, very wrong.

Okay, so now I am really disappointed! I had heard about the new Meatball Bar but thought it was a totally separate dining venue. There is a show in Food Network called The Best Thing I Ever Ate and one of the places they went was a place in NYC (I think) that was all meatballs. They had some REALLY good looking meatballs there and I was thinking (hoping) that maybe this was the same place/owners. Drag... :sad2:

Especially after what Kevin said about Portobello. Never have been there and probably won't go unless Kevin goes back and has a better experience. Although, I would LOVE to go do a dining review with Kevin even if it was somewhere not good. Actually, that might even be MORE fun! :rotfl:

Last time I was at Portobello's, I wasn't too crazy about it either. I would give this try though because the cost isn't bad. If the slider's aren't good I'm only out about $5. Hopefully it works out for them.

I love that show!! :)

I wrote the review - I hadn't been to Portobello since the refurb (and liked it before that), and found the meatball sliders to be terrific. I had never had a slider before and never really understood why someone would want such a small sandwich, but it's nice to try several different without getting too full.

I think $5.00 is not a bad price, and with the Tables in Wonderland discount you are looking at $4.00 plus tax and tip. I have never had a bad experience at Portobello like written here (we have friends who go there regularly), my last truly bad experience at a WDW restaurant was at Ohana' a couple of weeks ago (worst dining experience in maybe 14 years anywhere). So any restaurant can have it's good and bad. And I think it's a huge plus that the Orlando Brewery beers are included!

I was there yesterday. It isn't a separate dining venue, but there is a sign above the bar that reads "meatball bar" I didn't go and sit over there at all, I was just seated in the regular dining room. meatballs were not presented to me as an option, and I didn't ask about them.

I had ravioli and my husband had spaghetti. We both enjoyed dinner. It was quiet and calm, and the food was excellent.

That is why everyone is labeling it as a meatball bar, that is what Portobello has called it.

And as John Frost put it, it's $11.00 for 3 sliders and a hand crafted beer (knock 20% off for TIW). It's not a bad deal.
