OK, I've got the ticker....Poly in August!!!

You are too funny. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

LOL Stop it - you are not allowed to think. :crowded:

D~

This didn't just come out of left field.....Sara called me last night to tell me she got a job with a $1000 sign on bonus! And she wants me to have it for our Disney trip :dance3:. With the new 30% off the Poly offer supposedly coming out next week....the Poly is only about $1000 more for the week. And with that extra from Sara, it is totally doable!!!!

I would much rather have the monorail/boat than a bus in the August heat....much less waiting! And a much more comfortable room. And have you seen the updates on Tikiman with the new rooms at the Poly?? GORGEOUS!

Not sure yet. That extra $1000 would be very helpful in paying for dining if we don't switch. I will talk it over with Sara and Bradey and see what they want to do. Just giving you a heads up! :cheer2:

Have a great day everyone!

Today I made a pros/cons list between the 5 resorts in the running. I made a spreadsheet and gave each resort a score on different things like Cost, Room, Food, Transportation, etc. The 5 resorts I am toying with are: Port Orleans Riverside, Polynesian, Art of Animation, Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge (the last two because they have bunkbed rooms for the 3 beds we need). I really hate the room décor at both AKL and WL. I love both resorts, but their rooms are hideous! And those 2 were the lowest scoring....so they are both out of the running.

That leaves POR, Poly & AoA. AoA gives us the best room situation. It would be so nice to have separate baths and for Sara to have her own bedroom. But the sheer size of AoA scares me. And one major factor for this trip is recreation at the resort. We will be spending more time at the resort during the hot mid-day hours. So we want a great pool, good playground and surrey bikes, DTD boat, etc to keep us busy.

The Poly obviously has the best transportation options, but their pool is small and crowded. They do have the surrey bikes, but very limited area to use them. I would love to see the new room décor at the Poly....and I love their QS location, Capt Cooks. I know a lot of people think Capt Cooks has very limited options, but I like what they have. And the ease of watching Wishes from the beach each night is a HUGE plus!

POR gives us all the great recreation, a nice pool (actually like FQ's pool better for Bradey), and the DTD boat. My biggest worries with POR are the small room for us 3....and the multiple bus stops. Plus, I am really worried about Bradey falling off that little murphy bed. He is small enough for sure, but he moves around ALOT at night. I just know I won't sleep very well because I will be constantly watching him to make sure he doesn't fall off. I will probably end up putting the mattress on the floor for him, and if that's the case....we can just stay at POFQ to have the small size.

A little input......Kathy, I know you have stayed at AKL often. But you usually stay in the villas.....have you ever seen in the rooms?

Ann - You guys were in the Bayou last year, right? Are the murphy beds high off the floor? Is there room to put the two chairs alongside the edge of the murphy bed to act as a sort of rail??

Anyone stayed at AoA yet?? Just wondering if it really is as big as it seems. Maybe I will go look through the boards to see if I can find someone's TR from AoA.

BTW....

HAPPY EASTER to everyone if I don't get back here today

If I don't change things, this is what we have planned:

Saturday, August 17 -- Studios until 2:00 and then Epcot

Sunday, August 18 -- Magic Kingdom through lunch; rest at resort; back to Magic Kingdom

Monday, August 19 -- Animal Kingdom in morning; resort in afternoon and Wishes from Poly after Ohana dinner

Tuesday, August 20 -- Epcot all day and night

Wednesday, August 21 -- Day at the resort

Thursday, August 22 -- Magic Kingdom all day until we leave for hotel on International Drive for our day at Discovery Cove the nexdt day

Totally missed this post Kathy...sorry :worried:

This is our plan for now...

Sat 17th - Arrival. MK for a couple hours. Epcot for dinner.

Sun 18th - MK at rope drop. Resort to rest, then where ever that evening.

Mon 19th - Epcot at rope drop...evening open

Tues 20th - AK at rope drop. Boma ADR at 6:15 that evening.

Wed 21st - Sleep in day. Resort hopping, DTD, whichever park we want that evening.

Thurs 22nd - MK for opening. Hop over to Kona for a late breakfast at 10:30.

We are there for a few more days, but you leave this day....so looks like we are at Epcot together the evening of the 17th. And MK the next day together. And Thursday MK again together. And Weds we are resort hopping...you are at your resort...maybe we can hop there.

Anyway...looks like we have a few options for a DISmeet. We'll make it happen for sure. And if we do switch to the Poly, we can see you after your dinner at O'Hana

I know I have told you this before (or if I haven't - I have told someone recently)... YOu can get FREE bed rails from mousekeeping during your stay. That would help the murphy bed situation right? ::yes::

And so far... Even looking at discounts... We are still staying at POR - because if they release the same discounts for fall as they did for summer - my discount is better at POR. Not sure if this is a  or a :headache: - only because I am still struggling with the cost of this trip.

Yeah, I know about the bedrails, but they fit under a mattress and I'm not sure they would work with that bed. It looks like the mattress fits down in a small lip of a frame, not sure the rails would work.

But Sara came over today and looked over all my resort choices. She still likes POR. I'm not going to argue....we will make it work for $1000 less. ::yes::

So I guess we are staying put at POR. I think I can turn the chairs back to the bed and put them along the long edge of it to give him a barrier. Now as long as he doesn't fall off the head or foot end, we will be alright.....yes he is that bad!

Sara really liked the rooms and theming of AoA, but there is nothing (other than the cool pool) to do when we hang out mid-day. And the Poly is just too expensive.

She is so excited for this trip...way more than Dani was. It makes me feel good, it's a lot of money and a lot of time spent planning. It's nice to see that it is appreciated :lovestruc We are gonna have so much fun!

Thoughts on a 6 year old going on Space Mountain???? He meets the height requirement, barely. I'm just worried about the jerkiness of it and the dark & loudness. And that I can't see him while we ride to make sure he is okay. I would put Sara in front, Bradey in the middle and me behind him. I think I could put my hands over his seat to reach his shoulders while we ride. Not sure about this one....but I don't want to miss out on it and he has seen the YouTube video of it and wants to try it. What do you think?

Hey Suzi.....I was going to mention the bed rails, but D beat me to it. I'm honestly not sure how high the Murphy beds are since last year we stayed at CBR. When we did stay at POR in 2010 and that was in Magnolia Bend. Sorry I'm not much more help than that. I do think the chair idea might work. Heck, Victoria has slept on the floor just fine before, so you'll make it work!!

As for Space Mountain for a 6 year old, hey I think if he wants to try it and is the right height, let him. It's really a short ride and you'll be done quickly in my opinion. But you are the Mama, so you know him best!!

Oh, right...I knew you didn't stay there last year, sorry. I know he would be fine on the floor, but then we might as well just stay at FQ. But I think we will try the chair idea. Or I will bring some super glue and glue the sheets under the mattress on the outside so he can't un-tuck them and fall out :rotfl2: Or.....a Velcro suit......yes!

Oh and Ann....I got the maps you sent yesterday. :worship: Thank you sooooooo much! You are awesome . Haven't put them to good use yet, but I will soon!

Glad you're staying put at POR... It's always fun to try to make other resorts work though.

Not sure about space mtn... I've only ridden it once, and I don't like it. Not a big fan of dark roller coasters... The girls love it though. Allison met the height requirement for RnR and Space Mtn (and all the other mtns for that matter) on our first trip in 03' - she rode all of them with out a problem - she was 5. But she is my daredevil... :rolleyes1

Oh that's good to know. He is by no means a daredevil, but we'll see. I think I will test him out on Thunder Mtn first. And maybe Haunted Mansion for the darkness. He thinks he wants to do ToT too :scared1: Not sure about that. I love it, but there is nothing to hold on to.....

Yep!!! Definitely a velcro suit! You are craftly, you can do it!!! I am soooo happy you got the guide maps! Boy that was fast! I was worried that 4 stamps weren't going to be enough, but obviously it was! Yay!! I love to make people happy and I hope you show me what you make them into! I would love to see!!! :cool1:

All caught up and subbing!

Can anyone tell me how to find the FB groups? I am getting ready to start planning our 1st Disney trip and am just absorbing as much information as possible.

Holy COW have i missed a ton!!!
Your Mom is adorable!!! Love ALL your pictures from your FL trip! Love your outfit!!! Looks so Comfy!!
well you know my vote is anytime i can stay at the Poly I am. done deal no arguments.
I am interested in the AoA want to see what people say too.
Meghan is ummm you can say short for her age?? all three did Space Mountian and LOVED LOVED IT! make sure you get the picture at the end.. its a Must i am still kicking myself that i didn't buy it for Meghan. you can have a hand on his shoulder... I am sure he will be ok.
As for ToT... Again Meg is small. I kept my arm across the seat because like you i was scared she was coming out. If they meet the height requirement they are fine Disney does a great job for security wouldn't want him on if he didn't make the height...
But not for Mom's piece of mind!!! So yes every time she is on the ride my arm is across her and holding on to the other side of her seat. i feel better and She cracks up i don't know if more because of the ride or the fact i am a lunatic!

COME ON MAY!!!

Hi there! I don't know how I found the FB groups....I think there were links in the August thread on here....if I knew how to post a link, I would do it for you. Are you an August peep too?? Maybe D~ can post the link....she's good at stuff like that ::yes::

Holy COW have i missed a ton!!!

Yeah...I know, I was starting to wonder if I had pissed you off by voting for the wrong picture or something :lmao: I promise, I really liked the window one better too, but I had to vote for you whenever given the choice, regardless of which picture was there!

Your Mom is adorable!!! Love ALL your pictures from your FL trip! Love your outfit!!! Looks so Comfy!!

Thanks....I am hoping those good genes will kick in any day now!

I know...I really really loved the Poly, but it is just sooooo expensive! And there are so many cool resorts, I want to try them all. I can't justify staying there again. Plus, I think Dani would be pissed if I made her stay at FQ and let her sister stay at the Poly :duck:

Today I am leaning more towards AoA. Pretty excited about that even though it's only like a 15% discount.....still cheaper than the Poly. And the kids splash area looks so fun! At first I didn't think I wanted to because all they have to do for recreation is the pool.....but honestly, in August....all we are going to want to do is be in the water. Or in our room cooling down and AoA gives us much more room to do that in. We'll see, I'm sure I will change my mind a hundred times before my July 3rd payoff date. I'll keep you posted.

Well, that's good to know. I honestly don't care if we go on ToT, but Space is a must do. They have rider swap if worst case is he gets to the front of the line then refuses to go on it. I've never used rider swap, but I'm sure we can figure it out.

COME ON MAY!!!

59 days!
That's less than two months! Can't wait....so excited to meet you two! I get to hang with the cool kids :cool2::hyper::cool2:
