Ok, it's January, 70 deg at least (let's hope!)-would you do Typhoon Lagoon?

Or have you done TL in cooler weather in the past?

I understand the waters are heated, but come on...how cold is too cold to go and enjoy?

Am a New Englander if that matters.;)

We've been to Florida twice in January and both times we spent a lot of time at Typhoon Lagoon. It was at least 70 degrees. Of course we are from Canada so some days we were at the parks and the CM's were in Parkas while we were comforable in shorts. But we found Typhoon to be very comfortable. Just don't go too early in the a.m. and pick a day where there isn't any wind. Have fun, Typhoon Lagoon is my very favourite place...

We did it in 68 degree weather in March in 1993... as long as you were in the water, it wasn't bad, as the water is heated, but it did get a bit nippy in between. We have a picture of me pointing to a sign that says 45 minute wait from this point, and there was very obviously no one in line. The place was desserted, so if you are interested in riding without waits, it may be the time to go!

I went to Typhoon Lagoon last January, and the temperature was exactly 70 degrees that day. I had the BEST time!!! Obviously, there were low crowds, and I could finally body surf in the wave pool without crashing into anyone. I climbed the stairs so many times to ride the slides and tubes that my feet hurt. When the wind blew, it could feel a bit chilly, but the sun was out so I felt wam enough. Most of the people there were from northern states or the UK, it seemed. :) The lifeguards were all in coats and pants, complaining how they were freezing.

I think if it was cloudy, breezy and with temps in the mid sixties or lower, that may be too cold for me.

I am going to WDW this week, and I am hoping to get to Typhoon Lagoon again! :)

We were there last January fot 70 degree weather and my husband still enjoyed Typhoon. I stayed out of the water in clothes- I'm too much of a wimp. Enen though it was around 20 degrees at home, it was too cold for me to be in and out of the water in a suit! He was cold when he was out of the water, but okay while he was in. He was determined to enjoy himself! It all depends on your state of mind and how windy it is! Good Luck!

I wouldn't plan to stay all day. We were just there in Dec. right before Christmas. The temp. reached 81° one day. We went swimming almost daily. It was cool out of the water in the wind. You may get lucky, but the last time we went in Jan. We froze. The coolest day was 37° & the warmest was 57°. Still no crowds, no lines...

We got lucky a few years back in Jan. with temps close to 80 so we did a fun day at TL. Last year in Feb. no temp over 70 so we skipped TL but did resort pool daily.

We'll be there this January and we've decided that if the weather hits 70 and it's sunny, we're going. Hopefully, we will get to stay for a few hours and enjoy ourselves. We're from Chicago so anything over 60 degrees is wonderful to us.

Thanks you guys...this is precisely the kind of advice and warnings I was hoping to get...will hope for decent temps, no wind and will try to keep a WARM frame of mind...

...if not, well, it's not like there aren't loads of other things to do.:)

I would go because I'm from WI and 70 is great. To a person from Southern CA or another warm state 70 is jacket weather. It all depends on what is really warm to you. I would go.

Thanks for the encouragement jdkdorn!

Am considering flinging myself into the cold, snowy outdoors in nothing but t-shirts and a tank to inure myself... get that cold tolerance up...;)

When we visited my dad in Pompano Beach one Feb. all the 'natives' thought we were nuts when we went into the Atlantic Ocean. It was probably 70 degrees there too. I would have a towel ready for when you get out, but that's about it. It's not prime time for the water parks, but who cares? Just think about what it's like at home. It's all relative.

We just got back from WDW, the temps varied during out stay. Highs in the 70's one day and the 60's the next. Just know that highs in the 70's may mean that it reaches 70 for only a few hours in the afternoon. If you go during the warmest part of the afternoon, you should be OK, I'd say from about noon to 2 or 3. It cools down quickly after that. When we left on Monday 1/06, they were expecting a cool front with temps in the 30's at night. So you just never really know until you get there. Good luck. BTW, my kids swam at Stormalong Bay one afternoon late. The temps were probably in the low 60's. As long as they were in the water, they were fine. My husband swam with them but stayed in the hot tub most of the time. The pool temp was a little too chilly for him but we are warm blooded Texans and are used to swimming when it's 100 degrees! It's a gamble, good luck!
