I can't stop myself from buying new toys!

This one is a good investment, but I think I'm getting carried away with this hobbie.

Can someone suggest a good therapist?

In all seriousness, I can't wait until our next trip to Disney in Feb. I think I'm going to have alot of fun with this lens. And, if it turns out to be too much lens for me, at least it's a lens that holds it's value well for resale.

Unfortunately there is no cure. NAS (In your case, Nikon Acquisition Syndrome, or Nikon Accessory Syndrome; sometimes also known as Lens Envy) you can only hope to contain it. It is not easy. Its a sickness, but not a disease. It wont go away. EVER.

If you really don't want to spend anymore money on ANY other equipment for your Nikon. Then get ride of the internet. and NEVER come to this board or any other photography board EVER again.

Outside of Nikon, I believe it's generally called LBA - Lens Buying Addiction.

Of course, this is the wrong place to come if you're trying to kick addition... it's almost like a crackhouse around here.

I've been good, haven't bought anything since before my CA trip... of course that was only a little over a month ago. Next vacation for me will be April at the earliest, so I don't have any pressure to get something right away. Doesn't mean that I won't, though...

Photography addiction and photography gear addiction are two different things.

Here are some signs of photography addiction:
1) Planning vacations based on how well they'll photograph
2) Arranging your schedule so that you'll be places when the light is "right."
3) Showing up for someone else's kids birthday party with your camera gear.
4) Noticing a stain on a family members clothing and thinking about how much trouble it will be to clone out in Photoshop.
5) You like visiting gardens on cloudy days because the light is softer.
6) You regularly see the sun rise.

Some signs of photography gear addiction:
1) Your camera gear is worth more than your car.
2) When you get a bonus, your first thought is how much camera gear you can buy with it.
3) You know your camera maker's lens lineup better than you know the starting lineup for your favorite sports team.

Some ways to tell the two apart
1) If you see a photo of a bikini clad tradeshow bimbo holding a newly released lens and you start drooling over the lens - you're gear addicted. If you start drooling over the lighting or quality of the print - you're photography addicted.
2) If you are planning a trip to NYC because you want to shoot the buildings, you are photography addicted. If you are planning the trip because B&H is there, you are gear addicted.

Some signs that your a Disney photograph addict:
1) You've taken a picture looking out from the Tower of Terror.
2) You've got decent shots from the inside of PotC or HM.
3) You watch fireworks near trash can so that you'll have something to put your camera on.
4) You lay awake at night trying to figure out how to get a decent shot while riding the Rockin' Roller Coaster.

Well, my "kid having days" are done. I have three daughters, 12, 14 & 16. They get their fair share of toys too..... as well as my wife!

Although, with this purchase, I think I'm a little on the plus side compared to them.

I highly recommend getting a lens cradle, it makes carrying the camera with a large heavy lens like that so much easier and more comfortable

I'm so glad I bought one for my 80-200 2.8 lens...

Hmmm...that would be bad. I never have bought my wife any diamonds.

When I proposed, I gave her a choice. I told her that I could sell some of my meager investments, pay taxes on the gains, and spend the remainder on a little rock she could wear...or, we could just keep the money invested and let it continue to grow. She opted for the latter. She doesn't have an engagement ring, but we are growing a nice nest egg.

being a wife, i am sort of glad i got my "other" glass upgrade with our 20th anniversary ( 10 yrs ago, way before i came on here) so now i am free to just get the more important photo type but yeah a one family job does restrict the buying power now that i got a bag i like, a strap i like ,my nd filters and my teleconverter, enough lenses to do mostly what i want ...40 d is next ( due to the scary flash thread) so that will be a while till i save enough for that one but so far the withdrawal pains are manageable... course i just got most of what i listed within the last few weeks
