OK, if you are staying in a Home Away from Home and using DME

How do you get your groceries?

We've always used a towncar service that includes a stop at the grocery store, usually Albertson's. But with Disney's Magical Express, we couldn't pass up saving $150.00!!

But how can we get groceries now? I suppose we could get some supplies from the resort (we are staying at VWL), but they are pretty pricy . . .

Any other suggestions?

We bit the bullet and spent the $90 plus tip for the towncar instead of DME. I don't like spending extra money, but I think it ultimately was well worth it. We landed at about 12:00 noon and were at BCV after a grocery stop by before 1:30 pm and our luggage and groceries were with us. Well worth the extra money, IMHO, and we got to leave later for the airport on the way back, too.

I was having the same concerns for my upcoming May trip.

I like to do my own shopping..so I won't pre-order for groceries to be delivered to my resort. Thought about a taxi for a moment..then..I decided to rent a car, for the day, a well spent $20., from the Dolphin hotel..right next to my BCV and solved my issue.

Hi: We just had a group of 22 down at VWL last month. We used Gardengrocer and were very pleased. We had always done our own shopping before, but this was just too easy.

This is something I've been debating over the last couple weeks as well. We're going to rent a vehicle because we like the freedom to come and go as we please without waiting for the bus. Besides, I want to head over to TTS to meet all the wonderful people there face to face!!!!

I've used the town car service and when booking them if you tell them you want to stop at a store the first 30 minutes were free so we always had a list and me and one other would go in and make the rest of the family wait and we'd cheerfully sprint through the store it always worked out for us!

Alamo and National are the on property rental car companies, you can drop off (I have done) a car rented from them at the Dolphin. They also have a bus that runs around WDW and will pick you up at your resort and bring you to their primary rental center on WDW property. I dont know if you can do a car rental and pick it up at the Dolphin though.

As far as groceries, the Garden Grocer worked out perfect, check out his website and you see exactly what you are ordering, prices arent much more than the grocery store, and on some items, he paid more (fresh Fruit) than what he charged us. Everything was delivered on time, these trips to WDW keep getting easier and easier every time!

I use to rent a car @ MCO so we could stop at the Walmart Super Center, but if I can save the $30 for a one day rental, more money to spend in WDW.

We used WeGoShop.com when we were down there in January/February. Marge, who runs the service, is great and they deliver right to the room just like Garden Grocer. The way that WeGoShop works is that you send them a list of what you want and the name of the store you want them to go to (i.e. Publix, Winn Dixie, etc.) and they'll do the shopping for you. They were very good at picking out the right items from our list and providing suitable substitutions when what we asked for was not available. I would definitely reccomend their service.
