Which should come first?? Picking the brides dress or the bridesmaid dress?? I have my three sisters in my Disney wedding and two live in PA and 1 lives in Florida. My sister in coming up from Florida in June to visit and I would really like to take all 3 of my sisters out to look at dresses then. My wedding however isn't until June 2012 and I really wasn't planning on doing my dress shopping till the summer was over (and maybe after I lose a few pounds :thumbsup2) So is it a bad idea to pick out the bridesmaid dresses before you actually pick out the wedding dress? Is a fair to say no matter which type of dress you pick they will look good together Thanks!!

I'd say buy your dress first. Some people want the fabric of their dress to match the fabric of theirs, or the opposite and don't want them to match. If you get a really formal dress, it might mean floor length dresses for your bridesmaids. Or, if it's rather informal or non-traditional, you might want your BM dresses to reflect that. I, for instance, ended up getting a silk taffeta dress and I don't want my BMs to have the same fabric. Before I got my dress, I was convinced it would be satin - so you never know what could happen!

If you don't see them often, there's nothing wrong with trying on many different styles when you are with them and then choosing to pick which one you want to go with and ordering them after you get your dress.

I agree with above poster that you probably should pick out your dress first. I was dead set on a bridesmaid dress that I loved, and then I picked my dress which ended up being really formal. When we put the bridesmaid dress that I liked next to my dress - it didn't look so great because the bridesmaid dress was very informal.

Having them try on a bunch of dresses and styles sounds like a great idea, that way you know what looks good on them and could pick it out later. Hope this helps!

Your right!! I could just have them try on things to see what they like. I am leaving the dress picking totally up to them. I'm just excited to get them in the same place at once.
