Ok i have been to disney and all but new to staying in the resorts. is there a shuttle that takes you to the resort from the airport? does it cost. can will it take you back to the hotel the next day... i am not flying back out but want to rent a car to take me to port canaveral and i dont want to pay to rent a car for 2 nights if i dont need it.

There is a shuttle to take you from the airport to the resort - it is the Magical Express that comes with all packages. I do not believe it will take you back to the airport until your scheduled departure. However, I think there are rental car facilities on the property. If I were you, post the question about rental cars on the transportation board - I am sure someone can help answer that.

There are two car rental locations within WDW. I believe one is in the Dolphin hotel which is in the Epcot resort area. You can get to this area by walking or taking the Friendship Boat from either the Disney Studios or the Epcot International Gateway. You must enter Epcot to get to the IG but you do not have to enter the Studios to take the Friendship boat to the Swan/Dolphin, which is the first stop coming from the Studios.
I believe the other rental is at the Car Care Center. I have read that they will pick you up from your Disney resort to your rental car.
You might find more info about this on allearsnet.com, wdwinfo.com or mousesaver.com.

Just to clarify, you don't need to book any sort of "package" to use DME. You only need to have a room at a Disney owned-and-operated resort. Each person using DME must be named on the room reservation.

Besides transporting you, DME is also a luggage delivery service (IF you ride the bus, that is). Specially-tagged luggage goes directly to your resort room by separate truck, which means people using DME don't have to go to baggage claim when they arrive at MCO.
