I booked this hotel for nov 2010. Hoping to catch HP. LOL The rates were high. 269 the first night and 289 the weekend nights. I just read they have obstructed views rooms. If I am able to book one of theses can I also get AAA discounts. I was also wondering about an AP rate. Can you get an AP rate with the AP that has blocked out dates or does it have to be a full AP/ What other discounts can I look for? Thanks Oh and where do I find a list of Discounts I can get from AAA.

I wouldn't worry about the rates yet. As they come down you can call and get your rate changed. You need at least the preferred (no blocked out dates) pass for discounts. AAA gives you 10% off at restaurants and for merchandise.

3 years ago is the last time i booked an obstructed view.
i could not get the AAA discount with the already discounted room.

do not know if it is the same now.

spring break has the holiday rates.
it is a hit or miss if those rates you have will come down.
it will depend on the dates universal considers "spring break" time period.

Which is a better deal AAA or obstructed view? I'm going in Nov 2010 so not spring break for me. LOL

the obstructed view was $25 less per night, than the AAA rate at the time i went in october.

i had tight finances that year and didn't mind kissing off the view.
for $25 less a night, and i stayed 4 nights, was a decent savings for me.

i wasn't in the room but to sleep.
i did hhn 4 nights in a row and was gone from the room by 8:15 am and not back until after hhn closed.

4 nites in a row, WOW! Talk about a HHN groupie!!

OP- if not Thanksgiving w/e, your rate miiight drop some.

How do you book the 'obstructed' view rooms? Is it just the standard view, or do you specifically have to ask for it? We've usually booked standard in the past and have been upgraded every time but once, and the one time we actually had standard view, it was on the ground floor and we looked out right into the backside of a bush. Pretty obstructed, if you ask me! :) But no significant savings there.

We're only staying one night next March, and will only be in the room to shower and sleep. Since I'm paying rack rate in peak season, an additional discount would be welcomed.
