Ok Here is what I need help on I have 2 kids and my mom kids will be 10 and 6 when we go. We will be going in Sept. 2006.

My little girl loves the Cinderealla's castel so what i am wondering is can you see the castel from the Poly? and what kind of veiw will it be.

I know you can see the Castel Very good from Cr on in the Tower and if you get a certain room you can even watch it from your bed.

It will also be celebrating my mom and my 2 kids birthdays.

I like the idea of the Mono-rail going throught the Cr. Is it very noisy?

How far is the Mono-rail from the rooms at the poly?

Any help and input would be great!

I voted for the Poly.

1) You have a wonderful of the castle from the Poly's beach.

2) I like the pools at the Poly better because of the theming.

3) You have the choice of either taking the monorail from the Grand Ceremonial House (resort monorail) or you can walk to the Ticket and Transportation Center (very short walk) and take either the (express) monorail to the MK or to Epcot. At the CR you have to take the monorail to the TTC and and then switch monorails to get to Epcot.

4) Your little girl would probably enjoy the children's activities at the Poly too.

Poly fan, here. But one of my most magical vacations ever was the CR with a castle view! When you go out on the balconies it feels like you can almost touch the castle and astro orbiter. One night when everything was all lit up and it was so beautiful -- I'm embarrassed but I cried - I was so happy.

The CR also has an amazing video games room and a short walk to the MK. (And the elevators talk! ) DD loved rolling out of bed to go to Chef Mickey's!!

Like I said, I love the Poly, but I'm glad I did the CR once, anyway.

My vote is for the Poly.

We were having the same dilemma...we booked 2 nights at CR at a ridiculous rate. When the discounts came out for Oct, we upgraded to the Poly. For us, we just like the theming at the Poly, walking along the paths at night with the tiki torches burning, the overall feel of the resort. We've stayed at CR in the past, and while the monorail is convenient (only if you're in the Tower), it has a "sterile" feeling to it when it comes to theming.

Either choice would be a good one, you probably have a better shot at seeing the castle from your room at the CR.

We have stayed at both & really had a great time both trips. I would return to either one in a heartbeat. That being said - with the ages of your children - my vote went to the Contemporary.

- Within walking distance to the MK - great at night after fireworks - you can walk back to your room in 10 minutes while everyone else waits in line for a bus/monorail/boat
- Possible view of Castle from your room
- Chef Mickey's right in the resort
- Huge Gameroom
- Nice Pools
- Talking Elevators are fun for the kids
- Monorail going thru the building - most kids really get a kick out of this ;)

I really think the Contemporary was a fun place to stay & I think your kids would really love it. You can celebrate the birthdays at Chef Mickey's. :D Maybe try the Polynesian when they're older & would enjoy it more. HTH!

I have stayed at both.

The Poly: I found it dark and the rooms remote from the Main Building. That was difficult with tired feet and tired children. It seemed like we walked forever after getting off the monrail. The rooms, lobby---everything dark. That must be part of the theming--dark---but it didn't work for me. I'm on vacation. I want to see things...brightness. I felt i was walking and looking at vegatation.

CR: AMAZING!! No it was not noisy in the Tower at all!!! The rooms were light and big!! The patio was huge. The views whether of the castle (beautiful) or of the electrical parade on the bay were beautiful. It felt so much more magical than anywhere else we stayed. The arcade was great for the kids (not that we had much down time). The fourth floor with shopping and restaurants was fun. The monrail access is worth it. We could leave our room, take the escalator to the monorail, take the monrail and be walking into MK and within 10 minutes we were at MK!!!!!!! If you plan on spending significant amount of time doing the pool ----for example a full day rather than an hour or so----than it is your call regarding pool theming. The pool and patio area at the CR is fine. My kids loved it. Imagine being at the pool in the backyard of MK--that is what it is like.

I would go back in a second. I felt the magic of Disney there. I felt special there. Didn't feel the same at Poly. Some people say it is "cold" there at CR. Cold? How? You are in the heart of Disney. CR is Walt's dream....the staff friendly...check-in so easy.

It is expensive. I made my resv. with AAA rate, and then i watched the boards and got a discount code (Thanks everyone!) which reduced the rate to make it affordable. It was a wonderful and still costly trip but it was affordable. I would rather go every 2 yrs and stay at CR, then then stay off site again and go once a year. Just my opinion. Everyone has their own.

I wish you luck. You won't go wrong either way. They are both deluxe resorts. Have fun!

I would stay at the CR, I love it, and think it would be better for you

I havn't stayed in the Polynesian for a while, but I have recently stayed in the CR. I really loved it! I thought it had a neat atmosphere for a kid my age (at the time I was 14) and I really thought the rooms ans the activities were fun. I also liked the walking path because we went to night of Joy and had to get there without the Monorial that we had to wait for. I also found it very peaceful. But like i said, I haven't stayed in the Poly for a while but I am definitely looking to very soon. Hope this helps! :sunny:

We've never stayed at the CR - just doesn't appeal to us at all. They say you either love it or hate it.

We have stayed at the Poly and absolutely loved it. It is one of the resons our first trip was so magical - friendly, warm staff; fabulous rooms with lots of space; and a green, lush feel to the resort. The transportation issue seals the deal ! Oh yeah, my favorite - Kona coffee ! We also stayed at Poly concierge on our last trip and what a good time was had by all ! Chef Dick + THAT view from the lounge ! We were in a garden view room, just steps from the quiet pool, which was just perfect for our group.

The resort monorail is about a 5 minute walk from most rooms; the TTC is about a 10 minute walk; the launch is just past the pool . It all depends on which longhouse you're in -- they're spread out about a
5 - 10 walk from each of the far ends of the resort. The Castle can be best viewed from the beach and from Hawaii, the concierge longhouse.

Well I am still thinking. I just think I may like the view better at the Cr... Any one have any phot's of MK form the Cr?

I havent stayed at Poly but have stayed at the CR and its the most magical time everytime I go- nothing truly feels better than opening ur balcony door and seeing the castle light up before your eyes. It truly represents the magic of disney.

I do....and I'll try to post it. I've never done that before and it might take me awhile to figure it out!:D

Wow lots of people are asking about the castle view between Poly and CR. THe view from of the castle and MK from Contem. is far superior to the Poly which is about a mile away (or so). THe ambience of the Poly however is really nice , but if the view is the clincher, its no contest.

If the choice is a Poly GV or CR wing room there is no choice - definitely the Poly. While the tower rooms at CR offer great views and convenience, the Poly GV rooms are far superior than the CR wing rooms. The grounds and atmosphere at the Poly are far superior.

We stayed at the CR in April/May and we had a great time! Our DD5 loved it - she loved the monorail going thru the resort (not loud at all); she loved seeing (and eating at) Chef Mickey's; she loved the game room; she loved the view, and so did we! It was breathtaking! We were in room 4742 on the 11th floor and I'll try to post a pic - I've only done this once before, so bear with me...

The GF will always be our favorite, but we had a terrific time at the CR, esp. DD. It's worth it to stay there at least once, if only for this spectacular view (from our balcony)!

We stayed at both last year. I agree with what Del said. I personally didn't like the Poly - rooms dark, didn't care for themeing. Stores are not that good at all. (your kids will love the stores in the CR).

CR has hustle and bustle - lot of people don't like that - I love that. We had a tower room. When we left the room, we could look down into Chef Mickey's. I thought it would be noisy, but we couldn't hear a thing from our room.

From our room, we could even see the light of Tinkerbell, as she made her way from the castle!!

My girls *love* CR. They were 7 and 10 on our last trip. The love the gameroom, the shops, monorail, Playground, Chef Mickeys. The only thing that they liked better about the Poly was the pool.

Good luck,

Cutekatcar

Hi!

I just posted this same exact question last night. (didn't see your post). I've also narrowed it down to the Poly and the Contemp. I thought of a great plan: We would buy APs and stay at the Contemp our first visit, then stay at the Poly 11 months later. Well, dh said that's too much Disney for him (shudder)!!!! So, I'm back to trying to decide which resort.
