I am so excited I am finally going to get to HHI, I have been trying to plan a vacation there the past couple of years but somthing kept coming up and we just could never get there.
I have booked a 2 bedroom and we are going the week before Memorial Day 2011. There will be myself, DH DD19, DD22 and my mother and father.
Now some of the questions:
I loved some of the pictures of the marsh views I have seen, what kind of room request should I make?
How big of a resort is it? Is it very spread out? When I mean spread out, is it like SSR spread out? Can we pretty much walk to the pool, main lodge etc.
Do they have refillable mugs there?
Can you rent bikes there for your length of stay or do you have to go off property to get them? And how much do they cost? Do you know if they have 3 wheeled ones?
I am sure I will have more, but anything else you can tell me would be great!
Oh, also we will be driving from North East Pa, not sure if we will drive the whole way in one day or two days. If you have driven where would be a good stopping point?
Thanks a bunch!!!:goodvibes

I can answer some of your questions but not all as we always stay in a studio and did not rent bikes. They do have refillable mugs which you can refill at the snack area near the store by the main pool. We stay in the main lodge area and it was about a five minute walk to the pool which is practically on the otherside of the resort. It is not as big as SSR.

We drove last year from CT and I think it was about 15 hrs for us. We did not want to drive I95 so we went through PA and WV and went down I81 (I think). We ended up stopping in Christianburg, VA at a Holiday Inn Express which was very nice and had a great breakfast buffet for free.

HHI is one of our favorites! my folks are there right now and absolutely love it they are both 60-ish. You can walk everywhere, pool, mercantile, community room, refill mug station, and all around the marina. It is very, very relaxing. My folks did not drive in and have used the shuttle service to the beach house side. You will find the cms to be the nicest, outgoing cms. There are bikes for rent right on site, daily/weekly (very reasonable). We have only driven straight through from Connecticut. About 15 hours, we hit traffic along the way. Another time some rough weather, and the trip was 17 hours. But we drove through. :flower3:

I think just asking for a marsh view should get it done.

Yes, it is compact and you can easily walk everywhere

Do they have refillable mugs there?
Yes, same design as is in use at the resorts

Currently members pay $30 for a length of stay rental. I did not see any three wheelers when I was there last week.

I can't answer the driving part. It took us 2 hours :goodvibes
