We will be in WDW from May 28th thru June 5th ( actual full park days). I am normally a laid back person at the parks. Laize Faire attitude wherever the wind takes me. BUT this time I am taking a friend and her DS (8) for their very 1st time ever and I want to make sure they have a great time!(seeing as I have talked it up so much she decided to buy PAPs) We will all have PAP's......ANd I have 3 of my own kids going with me (9) (8) and (5). THe only thing that I have planned is PS at Chef Mickeys like at 7 am on 2nd. We will be at ASmusic until the 4th and then to the POR thru the 6th. The boys really want to take part in Star Wars weekends. Since the ExMag hour and evenings have started I dont even know where to begin........anyone care to help out?

Well since your getting there on a Saturday, you can either take advantage of MGM that weekend, or the next weekend. Since a lot of people don't feel that they are truly 'home' until they get to main street, well need to know if you are normally a MK family first? Also, do you often do more than one park in a day, just hitting the things you want in a laize faire attitude? (We do that which is why I ask. lol) Do you want to hit the water parks, and what exactly in terms of meals is in your budget? Like do you have the meal plan, an X dollar amount a day for food, or a set number of sit down meals? And lastly, what do your kids and your friend's child think of as fun. Like are they rollercoaster fanatics? Kids that will jump in shark reef without a second glance? Or are the teacups their thrill limit?

Hit us up with those answers and well do our best to help you out! I'm in planning mode since my family has made me their unofficial director lately. lol

Amanda- I know you are there some of the same days we are... if you want, I'll send you our 'custom itinerary' for those days from DU... it was designed to avoid the crowds on the Gay Days-specified park days...

Me too!!!! :teeth:

This will be our first busy season visit. I wasn't thinking :sad2: about Memorial Day crowds when I booked the trip.

We have the following in WDW:

Saturday May 28th (5pm on)
Sunday May 29th
Monday May 30th
Tuesday May 31st (until about 2pm then Vero)
Saturday June 4th (2pm on)
Sunday June 5th
Monday June 6th (until about 2pm then home)

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe my questions was?

How is anyone on this boards going to know what's best for your and your family?

How is anyone going to know what is special or important to your family and your best friend and her daughter?

What is going to make this trip magical for your friends and your family?

How much are your and your best friend willing to spend on food? Lot of table service or only counter service.

The only way to do this is to involve your family and friends in the planning. I am sure they would love to have a say in where to dine, what day to swim, what parades to watch if any, or what shows to see and at what times.

My DD is nine years old and I did most of the planning for our trip May 3 - 10. But it became apparent during the course, that I should involve her ALOT MORE in the planning for our next trip.

Some of her suggestions included:

1) No autograph books next time just pictures.
2) Keep the room on the 4th floor but a building closer to the food court.
3) Change the order of the parks. She wants to do AK first to get the smell out of the way. Here favorite park but what did she expect with animals :)!!!!
4) Only direct flights - we changed planes coming back MSP to DET DET to MSP. Our flight was delays in DET due to fuel gauge problems and we sat on that plane for a long time. However, we wanted them to fix the problems but it was a long flight.
5) SuperShuttle on the way to airport - Taxi on the way back!
6) No priority breakfast seatings before 9:00 a.m. We had a 8:15 a.m. seating. She had to get really early to make that Princess Storybook breakfast. Needed cushion time to get to EPCOT from Pop and to walk through future world to Norway in World Showcase!
7) Loved the Nike Strappruners and lose the tennis shoes.
8) No plastic princess bookbag - it made her back sweat in the hot weather.
9) Get a refrigerator in the room.
10) Let her choose restaurants as well.
11) Here number #1 - NO more (2:00 a.m.) wake up we are going to Disney surprises. She wants to know at least one week prior so she can have a say in what I put in the suit case. She was happy with my choices but would have change a few outfits. The DIVA lives from me to her! :)

All of the people in your group are old enough to make these decisions. Part of the experience of going to Disney is the planning.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do and have a great trip!

Thanks Dawg,
To answer your questions, it does not matter to us what park is first....And yes we just normally hit the things we want to hit and everything else is just icing on the cake :flower: I do want to do TL and BB, with more emphasis on TL as that is my favorite, so the paln was to take advantage of whatever parks have early or late openings, hit TL or BB midmornings til 1 or 2ish...break in the room for a bit than off to a park for the evenings. NOt everysingle day of course, but most. No meal plan, no meal budget but dont want to break the bank either. AKA it is too much of a pain to bring snacks and drinks into the oark, and just worth it to pay WDW prices for food and drink. Mostly counter service as I am too amped up to take time out to have a sit down meal while in the parks! LOL My kids will do it all. Hers is the unknown......I just want to make sure they have a great time, so we can continue to go on weekend trips with our APs! LOL Mostly, I dont care just so long as I am there, KWIM? But then I remember that I am taking a newbie with me and that maybe I should plan a little bit, and since I normally DONT that is why I am asking for help! LOL Thanks so much for any suggestions

Thanks.. I guess I wasnt quite clear in my OP....we go to WDW several times a year...all of the above ( with the exception of things having to do with airtravel) I have lived and learned as well! LOL I guess I am looking more for a due to this park on this day from x to x then go to x park from x to x time...the best way to get the most park hours I guess with out the hassle....these new extra magic mornings and evenings have me confused, as we have not been this year, since this all started. It just has basically thrown a wrench in my touring style...just looking for ideas :flower:

I'll post what I was thinking of doing.....

Saturday 28th -- MGM -- open late, just hope fast passes still available
Sunday 29th -- MK -- very early, leave mid day, return for late night
Monday 30th -- Epcot for early open, leave (staying at BCV), return
Tuesday 31st -- do MGM until lunch head to Vero
Saturday June 4th -- who knows? Epcot or MGM
Sunday 5th -- AK all day
Monday 6th -- EP or MGM

apulk, LOL I just had to laugh because that is sooooo my planning style! ! LOL That is why I rarely make PS's because I never know where I'll be! LOL

I ALWAYS make priority seating arrangements -- then end up changing 95% of them. I have a few made for this trip....but then after playing with a schedule for an hour today....I don't think any of them will work.

What's funny is -- my wife doesn't care. If we wing it or over plan it...she's just happy to be in sunny florida :sunny: .

I do feel out of my element with the heavily crowded weekends we planned our Vero trip around. Wasn't thinking on that one.
