  Just not as exciting as they used to be, plus I stay in Sports ALL the time, and, I HATE any kind of SPORT!  So, I need this boards HELP!:o Where should I stay next time? Coronado, Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans, or any other Moderate Resort, nothing too expensive or fancy.:p

I have stayed in all the moderates and I like them all but my favorite by far is Coronado. It is a moderate resort but has almost a deluxe resort feel to it.

We've stayed at the All Star Movies twice, and we'll be back in October! My little girl LOVES that resort!!!

We've only stayed at the Port Orleans and the Coronado Springs for the moderates - the Port Orleans is very nice and not that big of a resort. Everything is in easy walking distance - the food court, bus stop, and the gift shop. Coronado Springs is also very nice - great pool, but a little more spread out.

CBR is our favorite. We have stayed at all the moderates. I don't like the theming at CSR and feel it is too spread out with the pool on one side and the food court on the other.

I am also not a fan of the 10% tip at the Pepper Market either.

DH and I really enjoyed our stay at POR in 2000 (it was still Dixie then). There is just something about it - we loved to walked around the resort - it was so quiet. There is a boat that takes you to DTD - and lots of small pools. We stayed at POFQ last year, and enjoyed that just as much. The smaller scale of the resort was nice, but I loved that the bus stopped at our resort 1st - first on and first off of the bus each day!!

POR is IMO the best, plus their is 6 pools. :)

I've never tried any of the All-Stars, maybe some day I'll give them a whirl (only if I get to stay in the Football building:p ).

But if you looking for new scenery, then IMHO POR is the best of the moderates.

Great atmosphere, nice rooms and decor, big food court and Boatwrights is AWESOME!!

I have stayed at both POR and CBR and of the two, I prefer POR but CBR is nice too, just a little "bright". :)

I have not stayed at Coronado but walked around one day and was not impressed. We ate lunch there too and were a bit surprised by the 10% gratuity at the Pepper Market but I guess since they are trying to lure conventioneers as their main guests there, they will be able to get away with it.

All Star Movies.....we have stayed there twice
four times at Port Orleans......three at Dixie Landings
and four at The Dolphin......each has it owns benefits....
MOVIES will always be the food court.....
Port Orleans French Quarter was so calm and quiet
Port Orleans Riverside (aka Dixie) was very nice too
the Dolphin is huge and I loved the atmosphere and
the transportation to all the parks......

I would try CS, it is wonderful and the bus service is great too!
We got food at the pepper market but took it back to our room with us one time and then another time we took it to the tables outside by the pool and ate it there! A great selection to choose from, even for the picky eaters!

In the early am when you look across the water and you see the reflection it is one of the most beautiful views ever!

Just my 2 cents...:D

We have stayed at CBR and All Stars. Personally, we preferred the All Stars. I know that is not what you want to hear, but it's the truth. CBR is really spread out. It's not THAT spread out, but you better like to walk unless you are going to be in one of those closer buildings or want to hop on a bus everytime you need to get to the cafeteria.

As for Cornado, I live in Texas, and have no desire to go see what Disney's version of the "southwest" is. Maybe it's wonderful, but it doesn't do it for me.

So my vote is to try PO and let me know how you liked it;)

POFQ is my all time favorite. I'm not sure if it is open but I love this resort. It's small, beautiful and I love the way it is lit at night. Only one bus stop. 2nd fav -- POR! The pools are awesome, the atmosphere is relaxing and we liked the food court. Plus both have the boat to DD (I think they still have it) and you can walk from one to the other.

I've stayed at ASMo and the one thing lacking was the atmosphere. It just seemed too plain? sterile?. Not sure what is the right word here. POR just has so much more landscaping. I did love the food court at AS as well as bus service.

Good luck deciding.

We aren't into sports at all either....I can understand your frustration! LOL

Each of the moderate resorts has something different going for it.....each theme is fairly well articulated (I tend to think CBR is the least well done...though I like it there too!). The rooms at CBR are larger than the other moderate resorts, but you can get a trundle bed to sleep 5 at POR....so that's a consideration depending on your space needs (or if you have kids who are picky about who sleeps with whom). Though all the moderate rooms feel significantly larger than the All Star rooms...having recently stayed at ASMo for the first time, the rooms seemed miniscule to me (granted, last place I stayed before that, not counting a Hampton Inn when we were moving, was a 1br at OKW....and those are the size of my current 2br apartment!).

I think CSR has the best playground. My kids liked the CBR pool best...though my 8yo ds is pirate obsessed, so we know what the appeal is there. I think the slide is probably best at CSR. I'm not counting POFQ since it is closed right now and its the only moderate we haven't personally tried. I look forward to it though...eventually. The dragon tongue slide looks really cool! The landscaping at POR will absolutely blow you away if you are a landscaping sort of person. Its also kind of nice to have 2 different theme options with the Aligator Bayou and the Mansion areas.

Also, depending on your likes/dislikes, the view of Pop Century from CBR may be either a plus or a minus..... (I tend to shudder every time I see the place...though I know others find it interesting).

As far as food...the best food is at CSR. Definitely stop by the Maya Grill for their breakfast buffet...its one of the best on property with a few more unique selections. I found ordering and getting food at the Pepper Market rather time consuming and frustrating (stand in line at one place, then stand in line at another...make sure you get the card stamped...ugh!) but the food was very good. Otherwise I find the food courts just "okay" and expensive....and yes, the Pepper Market is included in the expensive category! We have not tried the new sit down restaurant at CBR, but had breakfast at Boatwrights at POR. It was good, but nothing all that special...though our opinion may be swayed by the very mediocre service we got there.

So, anyway...I really love the moderates. I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever one you pick.

All the responses.;) I forgot to mention, I did stay at Coronado in1999, and did find it a bit HUGE!;) However, I might be going ALONE or my DH might come with me, so I want to change a little, and show him there is MORE to the Resorts than Sports! I might be choosing Port Orleans, especially if I get a Discount for November! Now, I need to know WHAT building is closest to food courts, busses etc.;) Thanks!

You didn't mention your dates, but...if you want different theming than sports & *brand new* but still at value rates how about...Pop Century? :)

Going Nov. 6-9th. POP Century is not open than, but, I know I will have ressies for Feb. 2004!;)

Since Pop Century isn't open yet, & you like an "intimate" resort, I'd say POFQ/R.

Happy vacation! :)

P.S. Hope you'll let us know how Pop Century is when you go. :)

have you thought about stepping up to a Home away from home resort like BWV or BCV? Oh I see you are going over a long weekend. Sorry. But if you consider changing to a Sunday thru Thurs you can probably get a studio for around $120/night . The weekends will kill they budget. Something to think about.

We have stayed at all of the moderate resorts as well and I have to say that POR and Coronado's Springs are really great resorts but then again you will not go wrong on any of the moderate choices.

Or staying Off-site, as I am attending SSW and will be arriving Friday Night!;) I just feel the need to SPLURGE on myself for once.;)
