I am trying to plan our trip for 08. Haven't been to DL since 79, so um, wasn't up on all this stuff back then.

I can not find, nor could the travel agent at Dreams Unlimited, the season schedule for 08.

Any ideas for May or June as far as ride shut downs, hours of operation, fireworks and crowds? We really are open to going anytime during those months. Our kids will be - 9 at the start of June and almost 6 and are troopers with hours, so we will be at the parks open to close for the whole 5 days we are there. We love rides and shows both. But can't figure out when to go!!

I find it hard to believe that value season would go all the way till the end of June. (that's what the 07 schedule said) Don't the kids get out of school in early June out there too? Our last day of school is around June 4th. (But we don't have a problem pulling them out of school to go before that, they haven't missed any days yet of school).

This might help.:) Here are the park hours and events schedule from this past May. Everything should be pretty similar for the upcoming year. I'm not sure about whether or not Block Party Bash will still be running at DCA. The new parade will be starting sometime this summer, I believe, but I'm not sure exactly when. I'm sure Hydroguy will come to the rescue with the other info. that you need. :)

When looking at April-June the value season goes 4/13-6/19/08 at least at the PPH. The info is in the back of the 2008 DLR brochure if you have one.

Ride closures:

1. IASW down all year due to major refurb
2. In June probably nothing else down
3. Rumors persist of Indiana Jones going down for a major refurb in early 2008. This could mean IJA would be down into May but odds are that DL would have it back up by June.

Park hours and entertainment? Best gauge at this point is what happened in 2007. Here it is:

May: www.laughingplace.com/Guide-Cal-DLR2-200705.asp

June: www.laughingplace.com/Guide-Cal-DLR2-200706.asp

June will be busier than May. See my post #2 here www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1608280 for info on visiting in June.

Kids in SoCal usually get out of school in mid-June. If your kids get out June 4 then the week of June 8 might be a good bet if you decide to not have them miss school.

If you go in May or first week of June then try to overlap two weekend evenings to catch weekend only shows. Best bet for a four day trip, IMO, would be Wed-Sat. That gives you lowest crowds Wed and Thurs all day, low crowds Friday daytime, and then busy crowds on Friday night and Saturday all day. But you have two evenings (Fri/Sat) to catch some of the limited shows.

The entertainment maxes out starting the second (or sometimes third) week of June. If you go during this time then avoid weekends. A four day trip would best be taken on Mon-Thurs.

If you go in June then here is some advice:

Have a great trip returning to DL. :thumbsup2 It has changed ALOT since 1979!

I didn't think DL had a value seasons. I thought ticket prices were always the same. Except for specials like Twofer tickets.

Thanks for the info! We plan on having our trip starting 5/10 to 5/19 (going to San Diego too) so this is the exact info I'm looking for!

would you happen to know about the halloween time..next year.
if we go like were thinking about, then we would want to make sure were there for halloween party (dose any one remember how much those tickets were or when they were like every weekend?)
we could even think about going late sep,or early oct.. as long as the decrations and party was going on

The seasons are for hotel prices, not tickets.

Jade the PPH is the only of the three Disney hotels that will have value season during October.

The only thing i have to add to this info is that we went June 3-5 this year. (A Sunday - Tuesday). Starting on a Sunday allows you to enjoy Aladdin & the Fireworks.

But I also wanted to mention that in June, DL has the "Grad Nights" which can change up the calender a little. (DL closing early & possibly changing the days of EE). If you look at the laughing place links above, you'll see some odd days in June (usually on a Wed. or Thurs) where DL closed early. I'd confirm when Grad Nights are going to be in '08 & plan accordingly.

Few more things to add...

Rumor is that Block Party Bash will be gone in January and to be replaced by a new parade. Rumor is that ELP will run until the new parade comes up.

Toy Story Mania opening in Summer 2008! woooohooooo! :)

Matterhorn has a possible refurb due to rumored new trains.

New Monorail has also been rumored but no ETA.

We plan on going the first week of June. June 1-5. Kinda concerned because I'm sure Toy Story Mania won't be quite open yet. If they do it like Nemo we could miss it by a week. But I'm hoping for low crowd levels. Our trip in October was just TOO crowded! So I really want this next one to be better with that. So I'm trying to weigh Toy Story Mania with probably a good week to go crowd wise! Can be tough to plan so far ahead I know!

I just can't decide! It's the rides being closed issue. I mean with 5 days to be there we will fly in on Friday night, spend either the first 3 days in San Diego and the next 5 at DisneyLand or vice versa. So either way we will be there on weekend nights.

Now you through the Grad nights in and oh man... maybe earlier in May is better than the 2nd week of June after all.

SO CONFUSED

DH has to ask for the dates by Jan 7, so ... guess I have a bit to decide...

Nora, if you are going to be there 5 days, I wouldn't let the grad nights be an issue. If you look at the laughing place link, it appears that on the one grad night per week (the first two weeks of June), DL closes at 9pm instead of 11pm. (8am - 9pm is still a long day) It's really not a huge difference (especially if you're going to be there 4 other days).

When we went, we only were going to be there 2 1/2 days so it might have made a bigger difference....BUT, if you use EE effeciently & get to the parks early on most days, one grad night wouldn't be much of an issue (imo).

Any days you pick will be great....(but during the week with one or maybe two weekend evenings is best - imo).

No worries. :thumbsup2
