Am working on finishing up my son's scout scrapbook as he will be an Eagle Scout soon and I want to give it to him at his ceremony. (It's totally a surprise and while he is a boy who usually doesn't care about scrappy stuff.....he has made the comment that I haven't had any interrest in this like I usually do when it comes to their activities :rotfl: SILLY BOY!)

I am needing some help for a couple of the letters to complete his book. I'm using single words or phrases beginning with a specific letter (think ABC book). Anyone who has any ideas for the following letters.....I would greatly appreciate the help!

Here's what I'm missing:

G
J
O
P
Q
U
V
X
Z

Thanks!

Hi Danielle! happy you are getting some scrapping done!

Came up with these so far

G - Go Climb A Tree
J - Just Hanging Out
O - Outdoors Adventurer
X - X-Treme Day
Z - Zipping Along

will think about the other letters and let you know if I think of anything!

did you get the swap stuff mailed to me yet?

Thanks.....those ideas are great. Am working on his book because I just couldn't stay away from scrapping all-together. It's my therapy!

Just got my bedroom all repainted and put back together and found some extra space for my scrap stuff! I cleaned out an odd-shaped hallway storage space we had used for suitcases, winter clothes, etc. and have put up shelving for my scrapbook stuff so at least now I'm semi-organized and I have an official space for my stuff - which I've never had before! Figured before I get back into swapping (probably sometime this fall)....I had better get his book finished.

Lisa - the PO said you should have the box Thursday or Friday at the latest. Let me know if you need the DC#.
Love the Zipping Along....he is teaching climbing at camp this fall and the zipping along will work for his zip-line pictures. You girls are geniuses!

Saw you are taking another Disney trip.....how much fun is that!

Amy - thanks for the help. Ya know, we have been active as a family with scouting for the past 11 years and the word Prepared never came to mind :lmao:. Guess I still have some lessons to learn! :rotfl2: Definitely using that one!

I'm glad to hear you have scrap space
but I'm sad that it will be fall when you rejoin swaps since I'll be back at work & can't play along (got to pay for scrap supplies somehow)
I hope everything is getting better for you:flower3:

Thanks Reddy. Sorry I will be missing you, too! Your pieces are fabulous! Sure you couldn't sneak in one little old swap here and there? Just one category or two? Maybe I will try to hurry up and finish his book so I can get into ONE sooner. Was thinking on holding off until after our trip in November, though.

Things are slowly coming together at my house. My DH has truly made a turn-around and things are good. I need to remember that it takes work to make a relationship good and not just take that for granted. I think we both lost sight of that for the past couple years.

Anyway.....love peeking at your blog and all your new pieces. You are one talented lady!

Danielle--I have some eagle scout sticker sets that I picked up for you. I just realized I never mailed them. I'll try to get them in the mail in the next couple of days :)

hmmmm I do get a month off at Christmas - so maybe I could do one then
Thank you for the comment

Cheryl, you are too sweet! Thanks for thinking of me (us). Sure could use something different than what I have.....after all, how many times can you use 12 shades of brown and 6 shades of olive green? Don't want him to be "embarrassed" by his book. :lmao: Found one pack of eagle scout stickers but used them all up already!

Reddy....can't wait to swap with you again - even if I have to wait until next year!

glad you liked the zipping along, figured they had a zip line for the boys!

will let you know when the box arrives!

Yay for getting your bedroom re-done, that has to make you feel better! and for getting some space just for you is a major bonus in a house full of boys!
Happy your DH and you are getting things back to a good place between each other!

I hope you'll be back swapping soon too, love your work!

edit...yes we are going 10/13 - 21st...a friend of our's is going for their DD's MAW trip and we are going to spend a couple days with them...a big bonus trip for us since we have always gone every 3 years to WDW! excited, but this trip is very different, I'm not planning anything...no ADR's, doing QS and just attending MNSSHP, the rest of the trip will be just winging it!!

Danielle, when are you going to be at WDW? It looks like a week after we get there? (We're there Nov 17-24).

We leave bright and early on black friday Nov. 25th. Can't believe we will miss each other by just a couple hours. I promise to waive if we pass each other in the sky! :rotfl2: I think my ticker at the bottom is wrong and I don't know how to change it. We originally booked to arrive on Saturday or Sunday, not Friday. Airfare on Friday was a deal I couldn't resist. It's a struggle, but a few extra days in Disney will just have to be done. It's all about saving money, right?

We don't have Eagle Socuts here - after normal scouts they go to Venture Scouts which is different. But how about

G - go for it
J - just do it (OK, not original:rolleyes1) Just because
O - open to suggestion, original
P - perfect!
Q - Quite extraordinary
U - Unbelievable
V - Volunteer
X - xtra commitment (or xtra special)

I thought you might ahve some random pics which could be "made" to fit these;)

ETA - how about fishing out the ol' colour wheel and choosing colours which work with your staples rather than sticking to the browns and greens? Such as blue and brown, orange and brown, orange and green etc.

Aaahhhh, to be able to go to WDW without the obsessional planning. It's always been a dream of mine. :rotfl: Just wouldn't be the same if I didn't spend two years working out every detail. Just kidding. I do hope to go someday just on a whim, though. (And duh....I did know that you were going. I totally forgot! My mind is a mess these days what with getting ready for back to school; camp; oldest son getting a job; football practice....and on and on. You know what I mean!!!

Anyone have any favorite quotes to share? Always love ones that I see people have used, but can never find any when I'm looking for them. Was looking at some sites this morning. Talk about overwhelming!

Something inspirational?

no worries....we all get "mommy brain" and forget things!
this is really different for me, I'm such a planner by nature! it will be nice though to just go! no schedules, just fun!!
guess this is my "dancing in the rain" trip :lovestruc take it as it comes!

sorry no help on inspirational sayings, that's one of my issues in not figuring out great sayings!

Mazda,
We, too, have Venturing. In fact, we have promised Tyler (our oldest) that we will help to get a new crew off the ground as soon as he has finished his eagle project. He is with a crew now, but they are kinda wild and not the sort of influence that is good for a teenage boy. They have a lot of fun, but some of their actions don't really reflect the morals of scouting. We're excited to be able to form a new crew of our own. It's also great incentive for me to get into better physical shape :lmao:. Thanks for the ideas - am definitely going to use the Volunteer one. That, in my opinion, is the true worth of a scouting education. Showing boys that volunteering is a worthy task is something close to my heart.
What do your boys do in venturing? Is your venturing co-ed? Ours is boys and girls and seems to be a more extreme version of boy scouts (white water rafting, climbing, mountain biking, etc.)

I will have to google the color wheel and see what I come up with. I was working on the book last night and decided I have to add some color to it. The earth tones are nice, but kinda boring for a whole book! Will definitely use your suggestions. If anyone has any pics of pages they might have done for outdoors or scouting, I'd love to see some for inspiration. When I google for them, I get tons of people trying to sell me stuff and not many actual pages.

You just inspired me with your dancing in the rain quote. Tyler's scouting family lost one of their young men this year in a very tragic accident. He and his brother (Who were totally inseparable) were hunting together with their dad, and the younger brother's gun accidental discharged, killing his older brother. One of the saddest moments of my life. What a tragedy for that family. The way the boys scouting brothers came together for that family was truly inspirational for so many of us. Sometimes our kids teach us a lesson we never saw coming. Several weeks after the funeral services, the boys decided they needed to have some closure for themselves. They planned and orchestrated a celebration of his life and it was truly a celebration. Those pictures are just what "dancing in the rain" has come to mean to me. Will be a nice little memorial for him and a reminder to my son that you have to remember to dance in the rain.
Thanks for that, Lisa.
