Ok,here is my dilema...(long)

We just changed our plans instead of visiting WDW in december we will be arriving on Labor Day.I already know it will be hot, but, DH insist on going to Italy and Spain this year and he he has two weeks off in december. I was not giving up on our Disney trip ,so, I changed it to september.We will be there the week before my birthday and our anniversary.Also, since it will be hot we will use our plus options from our PH and visit the water parks.This time we will be visiting the "other parks" and staying at RPR for 3 nights.On our Disney days we will be visiting at least Epcot(no days left on our PH),probably on a one day ticket.Here's my dilema..I want to stay at AKL concierge, I called yesterday they have a great rate for concierge with an airline discount,but, it has the 45 days cancellation policy.Here is the thing ,since, my DH is in management they can cancel his vacation anytime, it has happened twice before and once during our honeymoon .So, at this point I'm thinking of booking the Dolphin(which I love!!) for the other 3 nights (they have a 7 day cancellation policy) and if 2 or 3 weeks before the AKL concierge is open I will cancel the Dolphin and stay at AKL.I asked the CM when I called yesterday if it was full (concierge) and he told me that week is usually pretty slow and they jut had a few bookings.If I change to AKL of course I would like to go on the safari, Is 2 or 3 weks before calling it to short? Do you think there might be openings? Is there anyway I can find out if the safari is open before I make the reservation? The CM I spoke to didn't even know about the safari.Of course I would have to buy new PH,since, I know we need park tickets for the Safari.If i decide to buy a one day ticket and spend the day at AK ,Will concierge sell them to me? As you can see I have many questions and these have all been floating in my head for 4 days.I know for sure we will know if Dh can go on vacation at least 2 weeks before. Again,this will be the week before our anniversary and my birthday and I'm really hoping to stay concierge.I really dislike that they now treat it like a package with this new 45 day cancellation policy ,the 7 day cancellation policy that they had gave me the flexibility to book our reservation with plenty of time.I really hate to book things at the last minute.

Hi there! I know what you mean about the 45days! I get the airline discount as well, and the other cancellation policy was great!! I would call the AKL directly to see if the safari is available at that time. They would probably be able to find out before you book!It sounds like you have a good plan! It is unfortunate that your dh's company can cancell his vacation! I know, beacause my DH's good friend had to cancell their vacation to Hawaii! I hope everything works out for you!!

You should be able to book this room as a "room only" ressie and get a shorter cancellation policy. Because you are adding airfare to your reservation, you are getting a package. All packages have that 45 day cancellation policy because it's through WDTC, not CRO.

The only bad part I suppose is if you do that and book airfare yourself, unless you book fully refundable airfare, which is more expensive, then you might be out the airfare if your vacation gets cancelled.

If you want to make the concierge ressie, call back and ask for someone booking CRO ressies. Usually the same person can do it, but tell them you want it booked that way for the shorter cancellation period.

As to tickets and the Sunrise Safari...you can't get one-day tickets at the resort. You can only get park hoppers. If you get the UPH, that might work best for you if you are staying for a short stay and don't want to keep track of the PH for the next trip. Sunrise Safari is ONLY for concierge guests. If the week you are looking at is really slow, I'd think you'd have a pretty good chance of getting in, just make your ressie for the safari as soon as you make the ressie for the room.
