OK, help me plan some great deals we can use at DL this summer!

Thanks, all, and keep 'em coming!

We'll be staying 7 days this time, so we'll have lots of extra time to run for dinner off property. While there is some food I enjoy in the parks, I sure don't want to eat it (or pay for it) exclusively for 7 days :/.

We'll be getting a suite with at least a fridge and a microwave (though if I can switch to a great rate at the WorldMark Anaheim, with a full kitchen, I'll jump at it), and we'll definitely be picking up food for breakfasts and snacks.

Anyone have any recs for restaurants locally that aren't chains? Cheesecake Factory et al are fine and filling, but I find them to be way more expensive and less well prepared often than the local ethnic restaurants. I've been searching restaurant.com and then looking up some of the places on Yelp, and am starting to get some ideas.

There are two that my family really likes. The first one is El Pollo Norteno. They serve carnitas, carne asada, and chicken. It is really good. We found them in the little magazine that was in our hotel room. They also deliver!! We order big and eat the leftovers for lunch. The other is in Anaheim Hills and called Slater's 50/50. Best burgers EVER! They were on travel channel's show "bacon Paradise". They do have a website. These are our two "must do" places to eat for DL trips!

<bump> I'd like to see some more recommendations for good places to eat around DL as well. We'll be there in July. We're staying across the street, so walking distance would be great. We will have a rental car as well, but will only go away from DL a couple of days while we're there.

Another tip that I am using is to sign up for all the Groupon/Living Social emails for the LA area. There are lots of restaurants on there, and I also snagged some discount Madame Tussaud's and San Diego Zoo tickets. You can also see what restaurant.com has available in the area.

To go along with this and save even more, they will give you free ice water and you can bring your own single serve flavor packets (about $2 for 10). A fountain drink will run you about $3, so this will save you a ton. We are going in July and this is how we plan to save some money to spend on good food instead! :cool1:

This is a great idea! :thumbsup2 I am a sodaholic, but some of those Crystal Light and Ocean Spray packets are really tasty and could hold me over while in the parks.

Buca di Beppo is an Italian place down Harbor -11757 Harbor Boulevard Garden Grove. You order family style sm or large. Order to go and pick it up. Coupons usually available for 10$ off take out or 20$ off dine in. I get email specials regularly and like them on FB.
Simple spaghetti or specialty pastas. Sides of brocolli and green beans will give you a nice vegie!

Dining:

We are going to OC Poultry and Rotisserie the first night. https://www.facebook.com/pages/OC-Poultry-Rotisserie-Market/115354121834790 It's a Vietnamese place that sells sandwiches, dinners, chicken. We are getting banh mi sandwiches...about $3...and a rotisserie chicken to put in the fridge for sandwiches the next day. We are also stopping at Brianna's in the same plaza to bring back some fruit plates and maybe ice cream.

The next night we will likely do Italian take out from Cortinas. http://www.cortinasitalianfood.com/ It's got great reviews and I figure the kids will appreciate dinner at the pool.

Also thinking about Olive Tree for some Middle Eastern.

All of these places are budget friendly, local, and very well reviewed.

Thank you! Love Bahn Mi and middle eastern food. I'll add them to our list.

DH wants to do Medieval Times so I've signed up for their email list. See if any good deals come of that.

Does anyone know if Mama Cozza's on Diners, Drive-In and Dives is close to DL? Also are the portions huge and lower cost???? TIA

Limace,
On the Anaheim city website, they have a coupon for Midieval Times. It is a buy one, get one free. You can make the reservations online with the coupon too, or you can call.

I think the website has an .org on it. That site has lots of coupons, including one for the Pirates place like Midieval Times, La Brea Bakery, and a bunch more.

Have fun at Disneyland!
