OK, fishing for information - pregnancy

I know the DCL Booking Terms contract says: Women who have entered their 24th week of pregnancy as of their embarkation date or who will enter their 24th week of pregnancy during the cruise will be refused passage due to safety concerns. Neither a physician's medical statement nor a waiver of liability will be accepted.

My question - does this apply only to those who will be entering that 24 week window? I guess my question really is - if a woman is pregnant (less that that pesky 24 week cutoff) is she going to require any forms to be filled out in order to cruise with DCL?

Or is the check box on the online check in form asking if anyone is going to be entering the 24th week of pregnancy sufficient? Will DCL just accept that as truth that she's OK to travel?

Hopefully some who's "walked the walk" can answer. Thanks for any help.

My sister in law traveled with us when she was 19 weeks pregnant (with twins). They didn't ask us anything extra at check-in but they did say "is anyone in your party 24 weeks pregnant", she said no and we moved along as usual.

My sister in law was HUGE for 19 weeks (she blamed it on twins and it was her 3rd pregnancy). I did notice a few side eyes throughout the week when I'm sure people thought she was father along but no one asked about it or additional documentation.

Disney has always been pretty non-invasive about their questions, even at the parks. Usually they ask a question and if you elect to say no, they likely wouldn't contest it or deeply press the matter. Good old honor system

Nope.

But the question above is different than what they want. Entering your 24th week = being finished with the 23rd full week of pregnancy. Asking if someone is 24 weeks is giving an extra week. Best to know that you can't be ENTERING the 24th week and be allowed onboard.

Like I've entered my 47th year, but I'm not 47.

Maybe I didn't ask it right. I'm trying to figure out if any forms (filled out by a doctor) need to be submitted for those women who are not already in, or will be entering their 24th week by the end of the cruise.

It seems that most major cruiselines (Well, the Carnival ones, anyway) have a form that must be submitted prior to the cruise with the dates of the pregnancy to confirm the "not entered the 24th week" part.

I didn't think DCL required any forms, just an honest answer, and I wanted to confirm that.

I think they don't require forms if you're not honest (lol). If you say you are pregnant, I think they want a Dr's note. But if you say you're not pregnant, they can't make you prove you're not (no peeing on a stick or ultrasounds in the terminal). A lot of women carry their weight in their stomach, especially women who may be undergoing IVF - it's a cruel reality that the hormones for IVF can cause pregnancy-like bellies. Can you imagine the CM who's going to start to interrogate a woman about her belly??

And some of us are (un?) lucky enough to just get fat during pregnancy - they never would have called me out on it :(.

Which is why, side rant, I'm so mad about Zika. I was SO EXCITED to announce a pregnancy onboard, I had plans and everything, and the Dr kiboshed trying until we are good and home. Stupid doctor, who does she think she is, with her "medical degree" and "years of training"?? :headache:

That's what I'm trying to confirm. Is a note required if you are pregnant?

It appears that, if you will be already in your 24th week, or will be entering your 24th week before the cruise is over, you cannot cruise. And a doctor's note or waiver will not be accepted in that case.

But, nowhere does it address whether just being pregnant requires any sort of documentation from the doctor in order to cruise.

I sailed twice while I was pregnant with my third child. He's two now. I was 16 weeks the second time and obviously pregnant (hello, third baby tummy!). No one asked me anything or even batted an eye. I just checked that I wasn't entering my 24th week of pregnancy and that was it. To be clear, they do not ask if anyone is *pregnant*. They ask if anyone entering their 24th+ week of pregnancy. So, if you aren't the latter, then the former doesn't even matter.

Edited to add: they didn't ask ME if I was pregnant then. They may have changed the questions, since it has been almost 2 years since I sailed DCL.

I also cruise while pregnant on DCL, and only had to check the box that said I had not entered my 24th week of pregnancy. No other questions were asked.

We cruised in November when my wife was pregnant and no additional forms were needed for DCL at all.
