Which deluxe resort would you choose for your FIRST WDW VACATION??? We currently are booked at AKL club/concierge level. We love the POLY too but just can't make up my mind 100% as to whether or not I should cancel and book the Poly instead. Pictures are worth their weight in gold and I would love to see some major pictures of the resort and rooms from both resorts and for those that love one of the resorts in particular for whatever reason, share with me WHY YOU LOVE ONE OVER THE OTHER?? Thanks so much We are debating whether or not we should switch so I need you help. We are going in July/August timeframe and I'm wondering just how much we are going to enjoy and utilize the balcony in the summer heat looking at animals. ~HELP~

When we were lucky enough to recieve the 40% off PIN code, there was no question: Poly!!!!
(That said, we haven't been to WDW since 1990. The last time I stayed on site was in 1976 as a recent High School graduate-- two friends and I stayed at the Contemporary.)

I voted for poly. That is where we stayed our first visit. It was wonderful! Loved being on the monorail.

I voted for BC (other resort) because of the pool and location. You know I love AKL but for your First visit I would probably pick Poly or BC for the pool for the kids. Keep in mind I have never stayed at Poly due to lack of a hot tub but I have stayed at BC and AKL. I doubt you will spend much time in your room being your first visit so your point is valid. If you are having that many doubts about AKL it probably is not the resort for you. Hope that helps. Let us know what you pick!!!

My vote is for AKL. With all of the walking we do in the world I just don't think I could give up my hot tub soaks each night... not a single hot tub at the Poly so that's a deal breaker for me. Plus, you've got Concierge at AKL!!! I would LOVE that!

I really feel that for your first trip, a monorail resort would be the best bet. I love the AKL, it's beautiful, but for your first trip, it's too far from everything except the AK. I would not want to spend every day on the bus on any trip, let alone my first trip.

On my first trip I was 30, married, and did not yet have any kids. We stayed at the YC and it was great - the resort itself is very pretty, the pool is awesome, and the 5 minute walk to Epcot (our favorite park) is convenient. Taking the busses to every other park, though, was a bit of a hassle for us.

Since becoming a parent, the monorail resorts are the way to go for us. Most trips are spent at the GF and once, for DD's 5th birthday, we stayed at the CR because it was pretty last minute and that was the only monorail resort with availabilty. It was great, too. The Poly is beautiful. We'll take the monorail over the busses any day (with AK we have no choice but to take the bus, though). Of course you still have to wait, but the monorail is cool (ask any kid!) and extremely convenient, especially when we take that midday pool break. When the line for the monorail is long, like at the end of the day, the launches to the monorail resorts and WL are a great alternative.

This will be our first stay in WDW as well and we chose the Poly. I LOVE the theme of the hotel and the photos are all gorgeous. Besides that, I like the fact that the rooms are bigger and that we will be on the monorail.

Although we had a savannah view at AKL, when DFI got a pin code, we changed to the Poly. Didn't think we would stay in a monorail resort until we retired. We changed to Poly because AKL is priced cheaper. So we figured that we could afford to pay full price for AKL for our next trip. Plus seeing that it's our first time, we wanted to be close to the action.

When we were leaving the WL this past September, it was pouring rain. Our bus stopped at GF and Poly and I didn't notice a covering to get onto the bus back to the airport. That and not having a hot tub makes me want to say...AKL. Perhaps I didn't see the shelter but the passengers seemed a little miffed about getting soaked.

If you have younger children- AKL. The view is great, plenty to do for younger children. IMO the rooms are a little to small for a family of 4 with older children (teenagers).
If you have teenagers- BWI. We loved this hotel! The room size was fantastic, my sons loved the pool and slide. We also loved the the different food choices.
I will be staying at POLY for the 1st time in Aug. I picked this resort because we have never stayed there, the room size is right for our family, and the pool.
