We are thinking of staying here our last night as a surprize for the girls (either here or one of the other monorail resorts) so I was wondering about the CR....

How's the pool?
Is it deep? It looks sort of blah (compared to other pools).

Also anything I should know about requesting a tower room? I'd like this to be a very memorable last night for the girls.

TIA,

I like almost any view from the Tower rooms, but for a really magical experience - I'd request a MK view, upper floor. Many of these rooms have awesome views of the castle, and Wishes - right from the beds!

The Bay Lake side is also beautiful, but missing a little of the magic of MK. You can see the Electrical Light Pageant from most of the Bay Lake view rooms.

As far as the pool is concerned - my girls love it. It isn't heavily themed, like the Poly's Volcano pool, but it does have a fun slide! The main pool is shaped like a giant hidden mickey - with one of the hot tubs right in the center. It works out wonderfully for us - the girls go swim, and I can watch them coming down the slide from the warmth of the hot tub! That was a big disappointment at the Poly - no hot tub to warm up in! My girls are older, so they didn't need or want the zero entry, which the CR doesn't have. They didn't like the AKL pool as much - while it is nicely themed - it's slide was "LAME!"

The depth of the pool is pretty standard with all the other pools on property - about 4-4/12 feet I think - no diving!

Hope you and your girls have a magical trip.

WE loved the Contemporary. Very convenient, full of energy, and Walt and Mickey's resort. The pool is very nice, as is the slide. The boat transporation is great, as well. We had a wing room overlooking Bay Lake, and we could lie in bed and watch the Electrical Light Pageant. Can't beat being able to walk to and from the MK! Transportation to anywhere you wanted to go was good, too! Also, it is a bit less expensive than many of the other deluxes and has much bigger rooms than WL and AKL. Depends on your priorities, but it is a winner, in our book!

I think there are parts of the pool that are 3 feet deep. You might want to do a meal at Chef Mickey's while you are there.

The CR Pool is VERY nice & accommodating for all ages. :sunny: The arcade is wonderful, and open 24-7. :cheer2: Definitely request a MK view...it's much more MAGICAL than the BL view (IMHO). ;) The CR is one of our FAV WDW resorts. We have always enjoyed the proximity to the MK (strolling along the walkway to return in the late eve, is truly memorable), the monorail actually stopping INSIDE the structure, the restaurants (Cali grill is our #1), shops and GREAT coffee counter on the first floor. The escalators are a nice option over the elevators, (for a change now and then), and the CM's are wonderfully pleasant. We love the manicured trees...with all the lights. We've only stayed in the Tower. Although I've read MANY different posts on the wings, they just never appealed to us. :confused3 I'm sure you would have a fabulous time at the CR, and the girls would love every aspect of this resort. It was always WALT'S Favorite. :lovestruc

We only stayed at the CR one time for 2 nights but it was wonderful. We had a tower room on the 9th floor with a great MK view. The decor in the rooms isn't my favorite but the view made it worth it! We enjoyed the pool too.

We've stayed in the North Garden wings many years ago when prices were 75.oo a night, you know how long ago that was. And after a Disney cruise we stayed on the conceirge level in the Towers, let me tell you its like night and day, we had the view of Bay Lake and the room is just about thee biggest if not the biggest on property. Pool area is rather bland, mostly flat, alot of cement with water in the middle. Vegetation is none compared to other resorts but its geared for the little ones, almost all Disney pools are rather shallow, no diving not really pools more than stand in water places. We really like the Polynesian. pool and resort just for the atmosphere but the CR is nice, both are monorail resorts and not as pricey as the GF. Thats way to la-dee-dah for me, stayed there and you're out in a remote house apartment building always walking to the game room, pool or commissory, for the money, pocket it and stay either at the CR, PR or WL!!

Thanks everyone for you replies..... the girls have it narrowed down to GF, CR & FW Cabins... ) although they think it will happen before we go into our condo, but I will make them think that we will stay @ our POR instead because all other options are too pricey)...

Although true Thank God for DVC points...

Knew I could count on you guys,

I have POR booked for NYE then moving to SSR. I would realy like to stay somewhere convenient and close to the parks on NYE, but dont want to pay top dollar. I was thinking of one of the wings at CR. Can you see the fireworks from them and is it close to monorail station in the tower?
