ok come on lets talk wine

right i have a bit of a cob on about this wine snob at the local club yes that is him in the picture.talking about wine he bought a burgundy wine which he said and i quote(ohh you just must all try this delectable little wine,its absolutely the best here) yeah i know anyway i tasted it and thought it was terrible and he said obviously i did'nt appreciate good wine,i replied i do if you buy some i will appreciate it, all of it in a pint mug my hairs were up on me neck now anyway i don't think there is such a thing as good or bad wine,there is just different peoples choices,what is great for one is rank to others whose to say one wine is better than another.so to sum up THERE IS NO GOOD OR BAD WINES JUST PERSONAL TASTE.rant over now.whats your take on wine

There are definitely good and bad wines (think paint stripper) but after that it is down to a matter of taste.

I agree. You can pay £60 for a bottle of wine but if you don't like it then it isn't a good wine for you.

Personally I pay around £1 a bottle in Tescos France and I love it

We always purchase ours from Laithwaites (mail order or internet purchases) they are a good source of quality wines which taste fantastic, even the reds they stock don't give us a major hangover from the tanine, they always have a great selection including champagnes etc...They even stock a lovely european Lager and send us info on bin end stock and special offers Last year we had a lovely bottle of port from them 1984 vintage mmmm...Anyway enough from me BTW we have never been disapointed with any wine we've had from them

I drink wine I like the taste of - not the wine that 'goes' with a certain meat or meal.

I've got quite a sweet tooth so prefer sweet wines. Love German Spatlese and Auslese
Also like the medium sweet Callifornian Roses.

Not a big fan of red wines though.

I adore Champagne and pink Champagne. We usually just buy it from our local Tescos. Not a fan of white wine. Like a nice glass of Jacob's Creek sparking rose. Also like St. Emilion red wine.

I love both white and red wine, but cant drink red wine anymore as it makes me feel very ill. However I do like a nice white Blossom Hill very chilled.

If I had the choice of 100 bottles of white wine or a bottle of Sarsons for my chips, I'd take the vinegar.

If I had the choice of 100 bottles of red wine or a bottle of Ribena, I'd take the Ribena every time.

Wine is an aquired taste that I've never managed to grasp. Each time I try it I wish I hadn't. Give me a pint of Mansfield Smooth or a glass of Ribena, now that's what I called palettable!

thats a big thumbs up for my point i think,if you have a sweet tooth you tend to go for german wines which ridicules as cheap plonk for council estate types(LIKE ME WELL X COUNCIL ESTATE ) i must say like ANDYRU i like beer best but wine is great for a change and you can all rest assured this plonker will be getting the very best wine poured over his head very shortly as mrs mozzman was not impressed at the council estate remark and wishes to visit my club next weekend. i told her thats a typical council estate response but wine over his head is the best he can expect by past experiences,but thats another story.ENJOY YOUR WINE WHATEVER YOU DRINK

I love champagne, we usually get the bollinger which is our favourite. we once got a £180 bottle of champagne for a special occasion and I wished I got bollinger for £35 as I like it more.
Also like rose and white wine, I can not drink red wine as it makes me ill after 2 sips.

Myself, my DH and our best friend all enjoy good wine we have similar tastes but our opinions still differ quite often. What DH and I have found is that we looked at good and bad wines of a variety of prices from Malcolm Gluck a wine critic. We so far have agreed with him on taste (including some more expensive bottles which he did not rate that we also tried and did not rate either.)
I like both red and white wine, but I prefer a good chardonay or champagne. I like Conundrum but you can't but it in this country (we first tried it in WDW and then had a case exported from the vineyard!) and my favourite champagne is Vuerve Cliquoit. I have tried some more expensive champagnes but still come back to this one.

I think it's all a matter of personal choice though and that one persons wine of choice may be quite unpalettable to someone else. Just because a wine is expensive or recommended by a leading critic doesn't make it right for everyone, and it's a bit narrow minded to think that someone is inferior in some way just becuase they have different tastes!

I am the opposite to many of you - I love red wine only (but I do make an exception for Champagne )

DH drinks both but loves the sweeter german wines. they smell nice but I don't like drinking them....

I like a full bodied red wine something with a bit of oooomph in it, my favorites have to be shiraz and Zinfandel. My dw on the other hand prefers white wine with Chenin blanc being her favorite.

But as a beer maker/taster I know that each persons tastes and opinions are different and as a result I would never say one wine is better than another etc etc. The same with beer/lager everyone who drinks beer has there favorite some like a strong hop/bitter taste others like something more mellow and light.....

I love the Wolf Blass chardonnay too. If you like this try the Oak aged Turning leaf Ernist and Jullio, I love this one. I love the oak textured chardonnays.

My fave red wine is always Merlot, or at a push, Rioja, but I can't drink it much anymore, it gives me a bad head! For white wine, I prefer it a bit sweet like Valencia or Asti, if I choose a champagne its always Lanson Black or pink label
