We got a chocolate lab and we love him.

He also loves his toys.. We have yet to find anything that can stand up to him.. We tried those new "no stuffing" toys on TV and got them at Target..

Yeah, not so good..

So give us some links of some durable dog toys.. He only likes the Kong when we got some peanut butter goodness inside.. So the hard rubber stuff is a no go for our Chocolate Thunder!

Right now he is ripping the head of a "tuff duck" that is clearly not as tuff as the folks that made it thought it would be..

The only toy I've found that my Newf can't destroy is this soccer ball attached to a rope-but only because it gets stuck under the table and she can't always get to it, and a tire. It's about the size of a lawnmower tire, and they sell them at the pet store. Everything else lasts about 9 seconds-including Kongs.

For my lab, I purchased the training toys at Cabela's or Academy. She does not tear them up but buries them in the back yard.:lmao:

Freeze the Kong after you put the peanut butter in it - it lasts longer. I also had to buy the biggest size Kong - it's the only one that held up to chewing.

I have found that the unstuffed animals work the best - otherwise it looks like it snowed in my house with all the stuffing. Also the big ropes with knots in them last a while - when they start fraying really bad I will toss them. She has learned that if she pops a tennis ball I will throw it away so she has learned not to do that since she likes playing with them so much.

I just keep an eye on everything else - it will eventually get destroyed. My dog chewed the wood trim off the walls, the corners of the cabines, the window sill, the wallpaper off the walls, my dining set in the kitchen and just about anything she gets her teeth on. Tabasco, bitter apple and everything else I tried didn't work. Luckily as she has gotten older she has gotten better at not chewing up everything in sight. I keep her locked in the kitchen when I'm not home as she isn't completely trustworthy yet, otherwise she might eat the entire house!

BTW my dog is a Great Pyrenees, Lab - Boxer mix (dad was GP and mom was a mix of Lab and Boxer).

There's a brand of dog toy called "Tuffies". My local pet stores sell them, and I think they're carried by Petco. They're not as squishy, and my lab has yet to tear it apart after 3 years (miracle!). I think the key is switch it up so they don't get bored; kong one night, etc. There's also a plastic ball with holes in it. You can put some kibble in it, but the dog really has to work for it, as it keeps rolling around and getting away from them (kind of funny in a twisted way!). Tons of exercise also helps with the chewing.

My 100 lb yellow lab loves her Polly. She carries it everywhere with her. She is on her second one but the first one did not get totally disemboweled for 6 months (that is 10 years in lab disemboweling years:rotfl2:).

I got it here at Petsmart but you can also google it and order it online. It is a big pig, about 16" long and 8" tall, but if you have a big dog it is perfect.

We love our lab and hope you enjoy yours too.

Only thing my pups could stand up to was the Nylabone for powerful chewers.

Yes! Kongs are great too.

Get some Bully Sticks! :thumbsup2

Pig Ears, Jumbones, Pig Snouts, Filled Hooves.

I have Mastiffs and treats/toys that are durable are hard to come by.

Congrats on your Chocolate Lab!
