Ok - Bible scholars

You really don't need scholars to disprove the bigoted email you quoted.

The book of Revelation was written over 500 years before the religion of Islam came into being. So...It is rather amazing that your spam states the book of Revelation "knows" the Antichrist will be a muslim.

This email is as valid (and intelligent) as "The Book of Revelation states that the antichrist will be a regular poster to the DIS forum"....

I really hate bigoted spam.

ITA. :thumbsup2 . I am not an Obama supporter, however I think that email is the biggest bunch of hooey I have heard in a while. Of course to say this means I finally have to face the hard cold truth: I WILL NOT be receiving my check from Bill Gates any time soon for forwarding all those emails. Oh well, there is still the harvesting of my kidneys I guess. ;)

Will the Antichrist come out of the European Union?

"And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast" (Rev: 17:10).

"For God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled" (Rev 17:17).

The Bible predicts that someday a world leader will emerge from a revived Roman Empire. The European Union is clearly the fulfillment of this prophetic event. At some point, ten leaders will come to rule the EU. The likely reason for the ten political bosses is the need to streamline the decision making process. When the EU grows to 25 nations, it will become quite clear that a central governing body will be necessary. The book of Revelation tells us that the ten kings and the Beast (Antichrist) will rule at the same time. It looks like the current timeline and the prophetic timeline are about to join up with each other.

At this time, the leadership of the European Union rotates among its member nations, shifting to a new EU president every six months. I see it as a kind of musical chairs game: Who will get that last, all important chair when the music stops playing?

Great idea.
The EU are close to having a full time President (unelected of course) instead of the rotation and one of the front runners is Tony Blair. He would be a great Anti-Christ. He is a lying, cheating crook and he recently became a Roman Catholic so his credentials are awesome.

Furthermore if you are a Christian and believe the antichrist is the precurser to armageddon and the second coming wouldn't it behoove you to help fulfill that prophecy? WOuldn't you really be glad the antichrist was here because it would signal the approaching second coming?

Why would I be glad to see the beginning of such a horrible event? Yes, I look forward to the second coming but I don't want people to suffer the way that they will suffer during the reign of the antichrist. I, personally, am not sold on the Rapture especially as to when it will occur so I fear living through that time. What happens at the end (the second coming) will be great.

Thanks everyone.

I really hate bigoted email to - My cousin is very conservative and loves to send me anything that puts any liberal person in a bad light. Even after I asked him to stop. I told him that I know his views so I don't send him Bush bashing emails so he can stop sending me Dem bashing emails. They still come though:confused3

I appreciate everyone chipping in!

Really? Where?

The European Union is clearly the fulfillment of this prophetic event.

Sez who? People claimed the Third Reich was, if I recall correctly. But I'm sure they were equally certain.

At some point, ten leaders will come to rule the EU. The likely reason for the ten political bosses is the need to streamline the decision making process.

Who made that up? You could just as easily say "at some point, 9 leaders will come to rule the EU." Wouldn't 9 streamline the decision making process even more, not to mention be an uneven number which would be helpful? How about 11?

When the EU grows to 25 nations, it will become quite clear that a central governing body will be necessary.

So now we're not just making up stories about "at some point" but saying that when the EU reaches precisely 25 nations, a central governing body will be necessary. Not at 19, or 21 or 23, or 24. At 25, though, it's INEVITABLE.

I don't take Revelations literally... but even if you do, when you twist it up with crazy make believe assumptions about the future of world political organizations it really gets so preposterous that I have to ask really, truly, do you think the Bible says that about the EU? If so, where? And since it doesn't, who told you that it does? And why believe them about it?

The book of Daniel is where most of these prophecies come from. Revelation, for the most part, takes prophecies from all the scriptures and compiles them into one book.

I did Beth Moore's study of the book of Daniel. It is absolutely fascinating. Check into it!

Daniel 9
Revelation 6
Revelation 17

No one really knows of course, but some Bible scholars believe the Anti-Christ will come from Eastern Europe, based on several passages, including the ones I listed. Also that the world's nations will be broken up into 10 geographical groups, headed by 10 world leaders under the Anti-Christ. The Left Behind series portrayed this particular opinion.

Even though it's difficult to understand prophecy, we're commanded to read & study it.

Revelation 1

3 Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

Ok, I just want to say that not all Christians believe in the "Antichrist" coming as an actual person, or that Revelation was a vision of things that will happen in the future.

Jeeeeeez, If you cousin believes this load of mallarky then email back....

That is states in the Revelation 2:14:7, that ye anti christ will be one who follows the Elephant! AND WILL NOT HAVE LIME colored Hair!!!!!

:rolleyes1 That will shut them up!

;)

Oh, Left Behind. :rotfl:

What, a fiction series isn't a good enough source for you? :snooty: :rotfl:

Yes, it was fiction. No one disputes that. However, it was based on intensive study of prophetic Scripture.

What do you believe? What does your church teach about the end times? What do you believe this Scripture means? Should we be concerned with these things?

The best response is no response.

But I tend to try and ignore stupidity when possible.

From my perspective, the closest we have come to the antichrist is Hitler, Stalin and Saddam Hussein.

I'll see that and raise you a Mao Tse-Tung and Pol Pot

Clearly? Stuff like this bothers me. Over the past 2,000 years, there have been thousands of attempts to tie current world events to the Bible's end-times imagery. They are always wrong. Every single time.

Such speculation does nothing to help us in our lives - does nothing to bring us closer to God. The only thing it does is allow folks to hide behind the Bible while demonizing a religion (Jews) a person (Obama) or an organization (the EU).

Matthew 24:42-44

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

What do you believe? *sigh* I really don't have the energy for that today. Let's just leave it at I'm non-Christian.

What does your church teach about the end times? N/A, I don't attend church.

What do you believe this Scripture means? Not really up to getting in to that either.

Should we be concerned with these things? Well, I'm definitely not.
