I am getting ready to order my first Bare escentuals kit and I have a couple of questions. First, I have light skin with pink undertones, should I order the fair or the medium? The fair looks too yellow but I don't want the medium to be too dark. Next, does it really stay put? It just doesnt' seem like a "powder" should stay put. And lastly, where should I buy it from? Any other advice would be apprectiated too! Thanks!

I want to try Bare Escentuals too and was wondering where you were ordering it from. Ulta had a kit a few weeks ago for $45 and I didn't get it and now they are all gone! Now I'm kicking myself for not getting it!

I get my BE from QVC. You'll get a special phone number to call and pay only $4 to order any amount of items from this catalog QVC send with your order. As far as the shades go, they are very forgiving and can be mixed together. And of course at QVC you can always send back anything you aren't pleased with within 30 days no questions asked. I wouldn't use any liquid foundation again. Try the bisque on the pink areas of your face.

I have the Medium BE kit and I think it is too dark or "orangey" for me. I am a fair-skinned brunette with a lot of red in my skin. Don't like the medium kit. My friend is a blond with lots of red/pink and she has the "fair" kit.

Also, for the most part it does stay put, however, when I blow my nose it comes off on the tissue and my friend pulled a sweater over her head and messed it all up. It does not have the "stay put" power that some of the other mineral makeups do and I do not know why. But it does provide great coverage.

I LOVE BE! And, I am not a "makeup" person. Previously I used Clinique, Estee Lauder, and Mary Kay.

I have dark brown hair and blue eyes, medium fair skin. I use Light 2. I bought the fair kit from sephora online, it was free shipping with a $75 order, so I bought "bisque" as well as the kit and got the free shipping.

Now, I primarily buy from ebay. I buy the "samples", it's 1/8 or 1/4 teaspoon for $2-$3. I buy all of my eyeshadows this way, they last a long time (6 months for me, but I don't wear it every day). I liked being able to try lots of shadow colors for a small price. I think the full-size of each shadow is about $13. My favorites are well rested and devotion, I just bought the "wearable browns", going in my stocking. I also like the "brushless"/magic wand mascara. My eyelashes don't get "crunchy", it stays really soft.

I reorder the foudation powders as the full size, they are about 3 times bigger than the size in the kit.

I have the eyeshadow brush and just bought the thin liner brush (got it today, going to put it in my stocking!) as well as the brushes that come in the kit.

Give yourself about 2 weeks to get used to it, you are probably using too much if you don't like the look. Also, I found when I layer several of the face products, it's too much. I do use the warmth, but don't use any "blush" colors. I also like the mineral veil, I put it on after my eye makeup and before mascara.

I am using a 2.3 right now. From QVC. I can wear a 2,3, and in the summer, a 5.

I have light skin with pink undertones also. I first purchased the light and it was to orangey. The fairly light worked the best for me for the winter and I use the light for when I have a tan. I probablly won't be using it again next summer because it would wash off too easily when you sweat.

Remember if you buy from QVC you can try it and send back if you don't like it FOR ANY REASON. This includes Make up.
QVC has great customer service.
I have medium skin so can't help you decide what color to use. sorry :)

Not an expert, since I started wearing this in Aug., but....

I am very fair skinned--we are talking sickly-looking pale. I went to a Bare Escentuals boutique and had a foundation match. I'm fair--the lightest shade, which is not available in a kit. There is a boutique in Paramus, NJ if you are close to there. If you are not close to a boutique, you might find a sales assistant to match your color at an Ulta or Sephora. I'm glad I went to the boutique, because the lady who matched my color spent time showing me how little product I needed to use. It really is a small amount, you just continue to buff it onto your skin.

I purchased my foundation, mineral veil (a wonderful setting powder that banishes greasies), warmth (a nasty looking brown rust color, that when applied correctly makes me look healthy, not sickly), and 2 brushes. The brushes are important. You can get all these items in the starter kit--once you know what color you need. The sizes are smaller, but this allows you to test the products to see if you really like them. I really do, but there is a learning curve. Don't use too much and keep buffing. The boutique is not easy for me to drive to, so I usually buy from QVC or a hospital gift shop. The products may also be available at day spas in your area. I am pleased with how well it stays put on my face. Good coverage (I have mild rosacea) and my face doesn't rub off on hubby's shirts when we snuggle on the couch in the evenings.

Check into Medi-spa for BE....they usually run a good ad for 15-20% off and offer free shipping on orders over $25. You can not order on line but can call in orders and ask for their latest coupon code for BE....The shipment usually arrives 2-3 days later.

Medi-Spa quit selling BE online. Can you believe it??

Also, the "cheap" Ulta starter kit does not contain the baby Kabuki brush which, IMO, is a must. I got my kit from Medi-Spa and it had the kabuki brush, so be careful what you order.

I almost had a panic attack....jk :rotfl: ...when I went to order BE on Medispa and saw that they no longer had it on line :confused3 , but quickly calmed down when I called the 1800#....they were very accomodating, gave me 20% off, free shipping....I ordered the starter kit, which contained 3 brushes, 2 foundations, mineral veil, warmth, and a cleanser....They even gift wrapped it and sent it directly to dd.
I always order from Medispa because of the no sales tax and free shipping, not to mention the coupons they usually have.

Hmmm...that's odd. I got an e-mail from them a few weeks ago telling me that "they were sorry but they would no longer be selling BE online but that I could come by their store and still purchase it." So, are they just taking phone orders for it?

Christine
Yes, you can order it over the phone...I asked if they had any current coupon codes that I could use on a phone order...I told her I usually wait for the 20% off coupon code....She came back and said not a problem....I hope that the phone orders continue.
