Ok, am I the last one to know???

DH had another tidbit for me today (he has a long commute and listens to talk radio! :rolleyes1 ) Seem there was a radio station producer who decided to ride IASW 50 times in a row for the 50th anniversary. :sad2: He said he'd rather walk down Main Street naked than do that again! :rotfl2:

Count me in as not figuring it out either.

Oh I knew right from the beginning!!!

:rolleyes1 Sure I did.....I too didn't realize until I read the OP. And people at work think I'm a Disney Freak/Guru (Freak cause I'm all DisneyDisneyDisney/Guru if I help them with planning their trip to Disney). Boy have I let myself down big time! :rotfl2:

Seriously though....thanks for the heads up!!!!

Chris
(who thought she was getting a grasp of everything Disney until now :earboy2: )

OOOOH! *smacks head* Now I get it! I was wondering....all day I was like "But why May? May 5th? I don't GET IT!"

Well I'll be. I think the hubbie might have been pulling your leg though!!

I always thought it was celebrated on 05/05/05 because it was originally opened on May 5, 1955????? :confused3 :confused3
Nope, DL opened on July 17, 1955. I actually did know the 50-50-50 thing, but only because Michael Eisner and the rest of the Board were so smug about it at the Annual Meeting. I would rather have seen a big deal on the actual anniversary, but I understand that they wanted to start it earlier so that the whole summer would be part of the celebration...

Never thought about the connection. Guess you'll have to add me to the Clueless in CT club...

Yet another blonde moment for me...and it gets even better because I had to think about the 50/50/50 for a while before I got it...pitiful

I'm right there with you!!

Thanks for the tip, I never would have figured it out!

Bobbi :flower:

Because 5 is my favorite number, my DD sent me an email with the subject line, "Happy YOUR Day" - pointing out that it was 05/05/05. I didn't even realize that it was also Cinco de Mayo until I started seeing all the Mexican decorations at the grocery, bank, etc. I'm sure I never would have made the 50/50/50 connection. I knew that the opening day of the grand celebration wasn't the 50th anniversary of Disneyland's opening day in July 1955, but I just figured that Disney wanted to take full advantage of promoting the celebration through the whole "summer" this year. Thanks to OP for this interesting bit of trivia.

:grouphug:

Don't know if this is relevant - but in Orlando there was a big Corona billboard for Cinco de Mayo "05-05-05" with bottle caps for the zeros.

:earseek: I had sorta noticed the five-oh pattern for Disney's choice before this, but seeing that billboard for the first time kinda gave me an "ooh! cool' feeling, but then it gave me an uneasy feeling. (ah, life after 9/11...) Now I'm glad we made it through the day without any major happenings.

It all makes sense now ...

Can't believe I never realised!!! Glad I'm in good company.

Sam
