Hi there,
Just wanted to update you on what is happening here in Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach - as you well know our Publix (which is approx. 2 miles South of the Radisson) opened on the 11th of November - the strip mall they built will have a number of shops - Beef O' Grady just opened up there, they are also opening a nail shop called Diva's and there is going to be assorted other small restaurants there - Doubltree Hotel is opening up January 1st and the Hilton opened up last week tho the restaurant where they have the great seafood buffet on Friday won't be opened for a few months more - the hotels are trying to get back to normal as soon as possible - the new one right by Ron Jon's is opening up sometime in April around Spring Break - it will be a Sheridan line but still owned by the same person that owns the Radisson and Quality Suites - its going to have a gift shop and looks like some neat rooms - they will be providing free parking on different levels on their already there parking areas - they are about 1 block from the beach - you know I was given the name, but I left it at work - we are still suffering from the effects of the hurricanes - many are still not back to work, many still have blue tars for roofs, many are still waiting for life to get back to normal and many are doing everything possible to make it happen -(We are super blessed after seeing what Asia experienced) - anyhow we have Mr. Cubanos which is located 2 doors down from the shop that will be opening up within a couple of weeks - just seeing the stuff the owner Tony has put up on the walls in reference to Cuba, is worth stopping in - my gosh it is all orginial stuff and awesome - to boot excellent food - we have a new restaurant that just opened where Crab Heaven use to be which is about 3/4 of a mile South of the Radisson - I know it's a steak and seafood place - as soon as I go by there today, will get the name and post it - there is a lot of construction going on in Cape Canaveral - my gosh when I came here years ago, I could drive for miles and be lucky if I passed a car once in a while - I remember Cape Canaveral was known as the arm pit of Brevard County, but I guess she fooled everyone - anyhow the beaches are still in great need of sanding - that will happen sometime this spring - now I am going to keep this thread up to date for the next few days and let you know what is happening here - if you need any help, just give me a call at the shopok.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY ------AND MAY 2005 REALLY BE A WONDERFUL AND MAGICAL YEAR FOR ALL.
Much love
always
Shirley and Norm

Shirley -

Did the Publix move to a new location?

Ginny :)

I was at Cape/Cocoa Beach in Oct. I feel for what you all have been through. The beach at Jetty Park was "rough" looking but we still had a blast! Have they completed the "bath house" yet? They were working on it but it was still the initial underground plumbing work at that time. It's still a beautiful place and we plan to visit possibly in March during Spring Break.

Have a great New Year and thanks again for being Mrs. Claus!!!! :D

Wow Shirley! I don't think I'll recognize Cape Canaveral by next year!! It sounds like a lot of work since we were there last year. Thanks as always for the updates. Wishing you and Norm the Happiest New Year!!

Wow...I hope the new hotel is in the Sheraton family....we have points with Sheraton and would love to be able to stay on points near the port!!!

We are visiting the cape in 3 weeks! We have never been - so we will not notice anything new - it will all be new. We are arriving the Friday before our Sunday cruise and then staying again the Thursday night before we fly home the Friday.

Shirley, could please tell me if there are any formal wear stores in the area? I have a daughter graduating Gr. 8 in June and we had hoped to find a dress while we were away.

Also, how soon do we have to order your baskets for our staterooms?

Thank you for your great wealth of knowledge! You keep us all so well informed.

Thanks for all the updates Shirley. I wanted to thank you again for all the great Key West information you sent me last summer before our DCL cruise. Two of my brother-in-laws are headed to Key West in a few months. I gave them the whole envelope of information that you sent me and they were thrilled. They asked where I got all of it and I told them that I had a "friend" who was very kind and put together these packets. Thanks again for your kindness!

Thanks for the update :jumping4:
Glad to hear life is somewhat back to normal for Norm and You :cool1: See ya soon James

Thanks for the update Shirley. A Happy New Year to you and Norm.

Can you believe what happened in Asia. It makes us realize how blessed/lucky we are. A lot is happening in your area. Are you happy with the changes/developments? I know when we visited WDW this summer, there was some sort of construction/renovation/building everywhere you turned.

Thanks for the info! We'll be there Sat night before leaving on the Wonder 1/2. Where should we eat dinner Sat night? We'd love to be able to see that ships from dinner???

We truly enjoy your seven eleven up the road.Charlie loves banana flavored slurpees, and they are hard to find.Every time we go see you we stop there, and they have them. You bring us good luck!Hope you and Norm have a great new year!

(((Hugs)))

to answer the questions I can - Jetty park is all together now and a brand new playground has been put in for children - it looks great and to top it off, the fishing is back to normal - I understand the Sheridan is going to be in the "family" where your points will work out - will have to ask Joe at the Radisson and find out then I will post what I find out - as for formal dresses for proms - most of the girls here go to Orlando, but the one that I love for girls is called L'Allure 161 North Atlantic Avenue, Cocoa Beach tho they were hit pretty hard by all the hurricanes - don't know if they are up and running yet, but I will get by there and find out - there is a place in Cocoa Village called Season's Ticket which has awesome clothes and if you tell Olsa that I sent you, I will see if she will give you a discount - other than Merritt Square Mall, there really isn't any place to find that "dreamy" dress - sorry but I will let you know as soon as I find out about L'Allure - I agree on Asia - my nephew Scott is a teacher over there and he had intented to go to the beach side, but decided he was too homesick with all his family here, he decided instead to spend some time with the local kids - his friends went, but he wrote this morning and said no word had been heard if they were safe or not - all comes back to our blessings that we sometimes forget (I know cause I do) - so glad the Key West information could help those going to mine and Norm's hometown - listen its always good to have a safe zone somewhere - hope your DBIL has a great time down there - well I know they will - anyhow this is all the update for now.
HAPPY NEW YEAR.
always
Shirley
