I never really thought about this before. I guess I just assumed everyone had to follow the same rules! Apparently this is not exclusive to OIA either.

They're only exempt if they are NOT flying. ANYONE boarding a plane is subject to the same rules. I work for TSA, and if I wanted to bring my lunch through the checkpoint, and it contained a 2 liter bottle of Diet Dr Pepper, I could do that, AS LONG AS I was NOT traveling by plane.

TSA, when they are in uniform are pretty much exempt from all the nonsense (shoe xray, metal detector, bag xray or search) that us proles need to go through in order to enter the "sterile" area. It's a weak link in our safety and security.
