Hi there. We are thinking of taking the boys to Ohio over the upcoming Spring Break (end of March/April) to mostly see the NFL Hall of Fame & Rock/Roll Hall of Fame. My boys are 15 & 10...what else should we do? Planning on staying 4 days or so. Also where to stay? thanks!!!!

It looks like Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH is only 65 miles from the RnRHoF. I would make that trip. GREAT park..especially for the ages of your kids!

unfortunately they dont' open until May....and their break is March 27th-April 5th : (

Oh heck, I totally skipped over the dates you had in your OP. Sorry! That's too bad because Cedar Point is fabulous. Maybe another time :)

I was no help at all, was I? :guilty:

We really enjoyed the Great Lakes Science Center and the Cleveland Zoo... but we are geeky that way. The waterfront is also nice to walk and enjoy if it is warm during your stay.

I live in the Pro Football HOF city and have been to visit there as well as the Rock HOF in Cleveland.

Both of those venues would probably not be as interesting as you might think. You have to be a real football fanatic to visit the football HOF and your young boys probably never heard of anyone who is in the rock HOF. You might enjoy it though.

Cedar Point is the obvious choice but since it is closed you may want to look into visiting one of the indoor water parks/hotels located very close to Cedar Point. I think there are two of them now.

Google "Sandusky Ohio Attractions" to get names and more info.

The Columbus zoo is awesome! However, with the ages of your kids it may not be something they are interested in.

I know Sandusky has a couple indoor water parks.

I think it depends on how far you really want to travel. Sandusky does have the waterparks but it's probably another 1:15-30 from Cleveland.

Vermilion is a small town on the lake, right now they still have the Great Lakes & Maritime museum and it's nice to walk around downtown. (Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood just bought a home south of there also.)

Cleveland has lots to offer also. The Flats can be fun, more geared toward adult fun. Love the Metroparks. Tower City also. You can walk around in Cleveland Heights, they have their own little Italy and Coventry (think hippie stuff).

Oberlin is another small town in the area. They have an art musuem, college and a lot of little shops.

As for the RRHOF, I wouldn't be surprised if you kids know more than what you think. We have friends that took their two sons (13, 11) last year for spring break. I think they had a display on the Stooges, kids knew who it was. :thumbsup2 My own kids would have a field day in there (17, 14, 12). I think it depends on you, if you show them a lot of music, different genres, they will know and appreciate what they are seeing. (Do they still have Jimmy Page's dragon suit on display? I know they rotate things.)

In the past they have offered something called rock and roller coaster deals. For a certain amount, you had tickets to the Rock Hall and Cedar Point. It might have included hotel also. It was a great deal from what I remember. Not sure if they are still offering this though. Something to keep in mind for a later date.

Maybe the Cav's are in town that weekend also. It might be worth looking into.

Also can see if the IX center has anything going on during that time.

If you get a chance Bubba Q's in Avon. Mmmmm. Old Prague in Vermilion. Marconi's in Huron (Vermilion and Huron both on the way to Sandusky).

Another great spot is the Cleveland Natural History Museum. It has some really great displays and exhibits.

I agree that if you love zoos the Columbus Zoo is pretty awesome. We went last May for the first time since I wsa a little girl and when we first entered they had a flamingo out that you could interact with and pet. They also have a new children's area that has a lot of animal interactions and activities.

The Clevelnad zoo is nice as well but the best part of it is the rainforest. On the bottom level they have an exhibit that actually recreates a rainforest storm.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

We are researching a possible road trip to Washington DC, which would take us through Ohio. It looks like they have Amish communities. You might want to see if there are any on the way to your destination.

I've lived here my whole life and I can't think of any thing else! How sad! What about the Christmas Story House. The West Side Market is always an adventure!
