I just opened a US $ account & transferred $150 into the account just to get it started. I got $120.39 US for $150 CND. When looking at the total cost of the trip it's still pretty scary!
We can only dream that the dollar will ever be at par again!
p.s. hi roscoe![]()
Royal Bank says .8003 at the moment....
$1.25 Cdn buys $1.00 US.
The big question is....will it get any better? Do I rush down and buy? Or do I hang on for a bit yet, and take the chance it will dip again?![]()
I knew I hadn't worded that correctly--![]()
I meant I transferred online from my chequing to my USD account and that was the rate. Sorry if I got you all excited for nothing!
Hey Minnie56, hope I'm not being too nosey, but can I ask what bank you're with? I'm with CIBC and have a USD account with them. I can see it on my online banking, but it won't let me transfer from my CAD chequing into it.
I called them up and they said I had to go into a branch to transfer from my CAD to my USD account!Only way to get money into it is at the teller or to deposit US cash at one of the USD enabled ATM's.
I'm looking around now at other banks and this would be a very useful option.
Salinger, that is the same with me-BMO-BUT I have an ING account. Within that account, I have several mini-accounts. One is a US$ account. I transfer money from my-ready......MICKEY account, into my US (ING) account each pay. When I need to pay off my US Mastercard, I transfer money from the ING US$ account into the BMO US$ account. Confused yet?For me, it works!
I still have to go in to pay the US credit card, though, I think.
