Ohhh lalaaaaaa!! Look at the dollar SOAR

Wellllll let me tell you--I was there the week before as well. Prices were good--got a really nice pair of plain navy pants at LC in the Outlet Mall..$10! LOL...and some other stuff. Came home, the Sporting goods store had left a Dye tag on an item (grrrrrrrr) and a pair of Jeans by DD bought in Lord and Taylor had a slash below the knee that neither of us noticed when she tried them on. Soooo back we went this week and there were MANY more sales happening! Whooo-Hooo! Perhaps they knew the March Break shoppers would be there, though it wasn't really busy so who knows. YOu know what it's like..you can always find some great buys and some not so much:confused3

It's more of a fun outing really...we have lots of laughs. Usually send up 4-5 ladies going.

Woohooo - GO HIGHER, LOONIE, YOU CAN DO IT! :cheer2:

Minnie, it's great being close to the border, isn't it? Our house is five minutes from one of the WA State border crossings - very handy when our dollar is doing well! :thumbsup2

It is--often I think of it as a trek but really I can be an hour to an hour +15 door to door..and that's Walden Galleria. The Outlet Mall is at least 15-20 mins less. Like to switch up the shopping repertoire!:thumbsup2

My MIL timed it once when she and I went to Bellis Fair (great mall in Bellingham) - from when she picked me up at home to parking in the Bellis Fair lot, it was about 25 minutes. Yep, that was dangerously close when our dollar was at par, now, not so much :sad2: I truly hope that our dollar goes up high enough to be dangerous again! I love US shopping!

LOL I don't know if I'd call it 'great' is the mall still half empty? I remember it was the coolest thing when it opened. We owned property in WA and BellisFair mall was the 'cool' place to go. LOL

I'd rather drive to Tulalip now.

i won't change trip plans because of the dollar but it is nice to see it go up so it goes a little further down south.

We always have a great time there - between Bellis Fair and Wal-Mart, we're good :thumbsup2 It hasn't been even remotely half-empty for quite a while - has it been quite a long time since you've been there? We quite enjoy that buffet restaurant for dinner too (of course, having the Cinnabon in the food court is a very dangerous thing too! :rotfl2:)

Do you mean the oulet mall at Tulalip? We went there last year and didn't find it worth the extra 30 minute drive, honestly. Maybe we're just too cheap to shop there? LOL :lmao:

I honestly don't think the dollar will rise up to much more, simply because we have lost so many jobs as it is to the dollar rising. I would switch your money over right now, it may have something to do with a lot of people buying american $$$ for spring break, and with the US spring break coming up, they may drop it again to make Canada look better for travel

go dollar go, go dollar go!

The bank of canada is showing their conversion at

20/03/09: 0.8083
(1 CAD = 0.8083 USD)

We are headed to Presque Isle, Maine today, about 1.5 hours away from F'ton, NB. Going to pick up my virgin mobile phone, some US stamps and cheap clothing...woo hoo!

I heard it was because the US dollar went down because they had billions of dollars worth of money just printed. I guess to get them out of the hole.

Why oh why can't I just print out a bit to get me out of the hole?? :rotfl2:

Dollar did well today. TDCanadaTrust is currently saying 1.2481 to buy a USD. I haven't seen under $1.25 for several weeks! Keep it up!

If it hits par, I'm going to pay off our December trip! Like I should have done back in September when I booked it!:confused3

My trip in May is already paid off....I just need to buy another $500 American to cover off our meal expenses.....just playing the waiting game right now :happytv:
