Of the 5 times dining at 'Ohana, I've only experienced poor service once. Same with my Mom. She's been there 6 times and only poor service once. And our 1 time was the time we were there together. Our waiter was very grumpy & acted like he had better things to do. We're easy going people though & didn't let it bother us. Thankfully the helper was very attentive and made up for it. I think he knew his "cousin" was having a bad night.
I think it was nice of your waiter to bring you that drink, even though you may not have liked it. Yes, he could have asked what you would have preferred but I guess it's the thought that counts.
