Hi there,

We are planning our first trip to Disney in a few months. We can either attend dinner at O'Hana's OR Whispering Canyon and I'd love to know which one you might prefer? I have two girls - 4 and 7 yrs old. I realize (from reading this board) O'Hanas is more hula dnacing, coconut races, games whereas Whispering Canyon has no characters, but lots of fun and audience participation. I'm torn and am not sure which would be our best bet.

Please help me decide which to book!

Thank you so much!
Cris

I think you and your family would enjoy either one. Perhaps you should look at the menus at AllEarsNet.com and decide which type of food suits you best, then make your decision as to which place to book.

ohana's is like the best!!! Awesome food...my parents and my husband loved it there and we loved our servers!!!!

I've never been to Whispering Canyon but my 'Ohana experience was fantastic! The food was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere was so nice. A lady came out and taught kids how to hula dance and then they had a coconut race and sang some songs. It was an absolutely wonderful experience and I cannot wait to go back!:goodvibes

Both are a lot of fun and a lot of food. Whispering Canyon is mostly barbeque food (ribs, chicken, etc) and Ohana is Asian inspired, with fire roasted meats & shrimp served right off the skewer. I would say make your choice based on the type of food you and your family would prefer. You can't go wrong w/ either.

The food at both are great and they are both very fun.....I don't think you can go wrong with either one :goodvibes. With that said, I agree with other posters who have suggested looking at the menus of each place and see which one appeals to you the most....then choose according to that ;).

We ate at both on our last trip, and thought O'Hana was much better. We thought the food was great. Whispering Canyon food wasn't bad, but not as good as O'Hana IMO. We have a 5 yr old DS and 3 yr old DD. They both enjoyed the activities at O'Hana better - learning the hula dances, doing the limbo, coconut races, getting the leis to wear, etc. They enjoyed riding the stick ponies at Whispering Canyon also, but liked the O'Hana activities better. I would definitely go back to O'Hana, but wouldn't go out of my way to go back to Whispering Canyon.

We ate at both restaurants in July of 2007 with children ages 5 and 3. We prefer O'Hana over WCC. Better food, more fun, and simply more enjoyable IMO.

We have only eaten at 'Ohana and love it. It also is really easy to get to on the monorail.

If money is a consideration the all you can eat family meal at Whispering Canyon is 4.50 cheaper per person.

I would agree with another poster and check out the menus at All Ears.

I did not like Whispering Canyon - it was way too loud for me and my DH and I couldn't have any kind of conversation. My kids enjoyed the ketsup scene but that was it. Wouldn't go back.

If you have to pick, then I think Ohana is the better choice. We pretty much go to Ohanas every trip. We went to Whispering Canyon once and are in no real hurry to go back.

I enjoyed both. You should look at the menus at AllEarsNet.com and decide which type of food suits you best, then make your decision as to which place to book. You can't go wrong eiter way. Lots of fun to be had.

We visited both and I would vote for Ohana though my husband is disagreeing with me. I don't think you can go wrong with either, they're both fun! I love visiting the Poly though.

'Ohana is AMAZING! Way too much food but when is that a bad thing?! Dessert was simply the best of my entire vacation.

We've been to both ~ WC just last month. We have 2 girls, age 5 twins, and neither liked the antics at WC. They were scared, in fact. However, they loved O'hana for both the food and the activities. We also had it timed right so we could see Wishes from our table during our meal. We probably won't rush back to WC anytime soon, but we do enjoy O'hana very much.

Either one is fun! But if I could only pick one, I would pick Ohanas!:cloud9: We really liked the food there better! And, my ds loved the coconut races!:rotfl:

I have eaten at both..WCC many times (esp. breakfast).

After having spent the past 5 months at Disney, I would not say I'm a huge food critic when it comes to service, menus, and quality of food but if you just eat at disney restaurants more than just a week, you begin to notice a lot more things at this place and that place.

I've eaten at WCC, once for breakfast and once for dinner since I've been there Jan-May and Ohanas for dinner twice.

My overall experience of the two:
WCC--great service and food for both meals. At breakfast it is less active and for dinner it is more active if you go right at dinner as opposed to the 9:00 hour. We have ALWAYS enjoyed WCC. We have always had wonderful service and great amounts of food for the price so no complaints.

Ohanas--I've read on here some horror stories about service but I figured that was just a one time deal or something but we had HORRIBLE service both times. I went once w/my parents and once with my roommates. With my parents we had a male server, my roommates a female server. Both times were around the 9:00 hour so I'm not sure if they just wanted to leave. We didn't have our food rushed but we never got bread--had to ask several times to get some and yet they still seat ppl but the entertainment quit before 9:30 :( The food was wonderful and we were offered 2nds and the dessert was great as well. We also enjoyed the fireworks and that they play the music but the service was horrible. I figured maybe like others it was a one time deal that we had bad luck w/my parents but when I went back a month later it was just as bad. The female waitress even told us that since entertainment left we couldnt get a lei :( We asked the manager and was given some and she appologized. Maybe we just have bad luck?

Overall..I would go to both again but I would go to Ohanas during the actual dinner hour between 5-7 and maybe the service would be better and I could see the entertainment.

Good luck, the food is amazing at both!!!

Done both with kids, and we all enjoyed both.

Personally, the dessert at 'Ohana would be what pushed me over the edge! I'm already dreaming about it with more than 3 months left to go . . ..
