DH and I are going to be in Disney in December for our 10th wedding anniversary. We bought tickets for MVMCP the night of our anniversary. At this time, we have PS arrangements for the Spirit of Aloha at 5:00 that evening. I am getting a little concerned. I have not heard a lot of good things about this new show or the food and have heard several comments about how crazy the 5:00 show is with children running around. I don't mind kids at the show (I have 2 of my own which are being left at home for this trip) but I am hoping to enjoy a slightly romantic dinner without too many kids running around.

After hearing all of this, I am considering changing our plans for that evening to Ohana's.

I would love to hear what other people think about this choice and why. Maybe you would suggest someplace totally different for the dinner. The only things to keep in mind our: we have the MVMCP tickets and we don't want a overly formal dinner (no V&A).

I know this isn't maybe the most popular opinion on the boards, but O'hana is definitely not on our favorites list by far - mostly because we felt there were too many kids running around and joining in on the fun and games they have there. Definitely not a romantic dinner for 2 type place in my opinion. I am not familiar with the show you booked tickets for, so sorry I am no help there...I agree with you no V&A either for us...my suggestions for a little bit quieter dinner (how quiet can it be at WDW?), but anyways, I would try Palio's (Swan) Portabello Yacht Club (Pleasure Island - no admission required), Yacht Club Steak House (I know that's not the proper name, but the steak house at the Yacht Club), The Brown Derby (MGM), Artist Point (WL), or San Angel (Mexico - EPCOT).

DH and I don't have kids, and we go to WDW every year on our anniversary, so we have experimented with restaurants alot. We have not found the 'perfect' anniversary restaurant, but these are some of our favorites for a quieter dinner for 2. I hope this helps. Good luck and happy anniversary!

If I had to choose between the two, I would choose 'Ohana. The atmosphere can be more romantic in 'Ohana; however, it can be full of coconut chasing kids too! My choice for you is the California Grill. Our friends ate there on our last trip. We missed out because our DS wasn't feeling well. They came back and said the meal was in their top 5 meals anywhere!! Boy did we miss out!! Also it is more formal, but our friends were wearing shorts and t-shirts and said they didnt feel too out of place. Have fun!

My husband and I did Ohanas last December (the week before Christmas) at 5 p.m. and had tickets to MVMCP.
They did the coconut race one time and it was only 4 or 5 kids. It was over in less than a minute. Maybe it depends on the time you go. That week was not crowded and 5 p.m. is right when they open. We loved it and it is now a must for us. If you do go try to get there at 4:45 so you can check in early and ask for a window seat.
