We ate there last Thursday night (3/13/08) for the first time. Took a few shots of the food. The noodles are udon noodles. Tasted kinda sweet. DW and I tried a little and didn't care for it at all. We were served fried pork wontons. DW likes wontons and liked those. They had a crunchy texture similar to Chinese eggrolls (referring to the rice paper used to wrap them).

They brought out 3 sauces. One was a sweet and sour. The other was a peanut sauce. The last was a European style (I think thats what cousin Cliff said). I tried them all and they did nothing for me. The Euro sauce tasted like slightly garlicy olive oil at best. I requested something spicier and this is what they brought out:

I laughed it off...:rotfl: Because this stuff is sour and not spicy at all. Also, they could of at least scooped some in a bowl instead of bringing out the almost empty jar....

Oh, we did get potatoes. They were in the form of french fries as DS2 is a very picky eater and only eats fries and cheetos.:confused3

Also, IMO the turkey was undercooked. It was pink in the middle and grossed me out. Steak was not fatty like others have stated or complained about. Pork was very good. Shrimp was semi-sweet and very good, too!

does anyone know if you can still get the plain wontons with no pork? DM and I are both vegetarians, and I so love those wonton crisps!

I am going to call this week and ask because we will be there on Friday. If it is something they need to know ahead of time then I figure I better let them know soon! I am a veggie, too!

The noodles look so...disappointing. Like something that could come out of my kitchen (and I'm no chef!).

RIP potatoes :(

Aww.. Thanks for taking pictures. :headache: The noodles do look so disappointing. I think if their objective was to make a more authentic dish, that throwing pineapple into something doesn't make it so. Just my two cents. :confused3 I agree that the potatoes didn't fit the theme but they were delicious. :thumbsup2

My husband is a vegetarian. I will eat the turkeyand the shrimp skewers. Do you think they would make the wontons without pork? Now I don't know what to do. This is such a bummer. I was so looking forward to eating there.

They look like the frozen potstickers that I buy at the grocery store...never seen them veggie only.

i wonder if you can order the noodles without the pineapple and sweet sauce....like maybe just plain...

Excuse me, but udon noodles with fruit and veggies are 10000 times more authentic than cheesy potatoes. In any asian culture, the prior is a staple, while the latter is a foreign treat. Noodles are abundant, especially with a soy-sweet based sauce and veggies and fruit (often times a broth to make it a soup). Potatoes, especially with fat heavy cheese and cream, which by the way can be store bought anyway, will not be expected on any asian table, unless requested.

Just my 2 cents. Honestly, people, its just food, your in Disney World, stop crying over cheesy potatoes! :thumbsup2

I love you all! ;)

Thank you so much for posting these pictures. I know everyone has been dying to see the new items on the menu. Both items look interesting and worthy of a chance. While I loved the potatoes, I agree that the noodles are a better fit and will go into the experience with an open mind (and, of course, an open mouth!!!)

Thank you for the pictures, I'd been looking for some. The noodles and dumplings don't look bad. :)

Hi
Thanks for the pictures. I was wondering if the noodles have beef broth on them, or is it a soy sauce. I don't eat meat, but love the shrimp. If the noodles are made with broth, I won't eat them. No pork wontons either. I don't really care if the potatoes didn't fit the theme, I'd rather have something I can eat. I'll miss the wonton chips too.

Thank you for the pictures OP! Those wontons look yummy! To those that do not think that the noodles look that good. You can always state your opinions!:thumbsup2

The noodles look great! Thanks for the pics! :surfweb:
However...I'm still not convinced about how "Hawaiian" the menu is...they serve turkey???

I would always steer vegetarians away from 'Ohana. It's not vegetarian friendly enough for me to recommend it to friends who don't eat meat.

Looks tasty! Is that a peice of the bread in that one picture? It looks good too.

Thank you so much for posting the pix! This dinner was off our list for years, and now we might just have to give the new menu a shot. The noodles with the pineapple and peanuts look delicious!

And that's hysterical they brought you out that huge jar of chili sweet/sout sauce. I wouldn't know what to do if they clunked that down in front of me :rotfl2:
