I have heard these 2 mentioned quite a bit and was owndering if someone could give me more info on them-- such as location, menu options, atmosphere, price and if they are any good of course :) We are going in septmeber and i would like to try some new places to eat!!

Try Deb Wills site for reviews, menus and prices. Your choices offer different dining experiences.

These are two very different restaurants. 'OHanas doesn't have a menu but rather specific items that are served family style followed by skewers of meats and shrimp. There are also games for children so it is very family friendly. It is a set price per person. We tried this for the 1st time on our last trip and loved it!

CG has a wide menu with a variety of choices. This restaurant is on the expensive end and has a "fancy" menu. There are no games ect for children as it is considered a "nicer" restaurant. The menu doesn't apeal to us so we have never tried it so I can't give any personal info.

Never been to California grill but been to 'Ohana and really liked it a lot. Plan on going back again next visit. Fun place if you have kids too :)

Our meal at CG this past weekend was the very best that I've had in a while -- well worth our 50 minute wait for a table. Our reservation was for 8:20. Fireworks were at 10, so we had just gotten our entrees when the show began. Other adult-only groups waiting at the same time as us were as surprised as I was by the number of young children at CG. There was a very young baby at the table next to ours. It screamed throughout most of our meal. Pleasant. It really isn't a restaurant for little ones. I know I won't be taking my children there! Also surprising was how loud the restaurant was. I just don't remember it being that loud. Of course, we haven't been in a while. The dress code at CG has been discussed a bunch on the DIS. I expected everyone to be adhering to it. Not so! There were more people in casual flip flops and tee shirts than anything else. Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable eating dinner in a nice restaurant while wearing cut-off; but, obviously, others do.

If you're going next month and don't have ADRs already, you may have trouble getting into either. I'm also going in Sept and called about 84 days out for our 'Ohanna ADR. It was available, but not for the time I wanted. Alot of people eat there and try to get a window seat in order to view Wishes. Instead we'll be eating there and then strolling down to the beach to watch Wishes, although supposedly even with ADRs there is usually a long wait.

Two very different spots.
WE much prefer the California Grill.

Thanks for the dress code update.

We loved both Ohana and CG. With the dining plan, we ate TS seven nights in a row and we never had a bad meal. Next time we'll be trying at least four new restaurants but Ohana and CG will be two, along with Boma, that we will be returning to.

Squeakymouse I am sorry about the screaming baby and I agree that was not appropriate, but I cannot agree with you that CG is not appropriate for young children in general. CG is truly, truly unique. I have eaten at nicer restaurants all over the East Coast (and a few elsewhere in the U.S. plus in Europe as well) and I have never encountered another place like the CG. Not so much for the food -- although we found it quite delcious -- but for the way it combines a high level of sophistication with a family-friendly atmosphere. The CG is plenty suave, but it never loses sight that it is indeed located in the heart of WDW, just a short monorail ride away from the MK. Anyone who is hoping for a very quiet meal should probably not visit the CG. I would suggest Citricos for that (unless you want to do V & A, of course). Even the Flying Fish was full of children -- what do you expect when you have a restaurant in which, when you need to visit the restroom, you must walk through a CANDY STORE to get there!!! That blew me away. But I digress...

Also, BTW, the night we went to CG most people were adhering to the dress code, but one guy showed up in a tank top. The CMs at CG promptly handed him a shirt. Dh and I got a good chuckle out of that. :rotfl2:

I forgot to add...when we were at CG this past weekend, we arrived around 8:10. There already were guests who had completed their meals but were "camped out" in front of the windows for the fireworks. Fireworks were at 10!! We waited 50 minutes for a table. I'm pretty sure there other folks before us who waited even longer. Originally, we had planned on watching the fireworks from the MK -- we weren't planning on staying at CG. However, as I mentioned above, we didn't even get our entrees until the fireworks were beginning.

While I tend to agree with this statement, it is WDW afterall. My wife and I are in our early 30s with no children, and no plans of children. We do enjoy a nice dinner experience without a screaming child. When in Disney though, you must consider the fact that you will be surrounded by little ones. Those parents deserve a nice meal too. I just wish a parent would correct a loud child or get up and take them to the lobby to quiet down when dining in such a restaurant. There are plenty of well behaved children too. Do not make such a general statement. It is more the parent's fault than the child.
