Ok, I think i'm set on O'hanas for my boyfriend's birthday dinner (May 17). Are there any reasons NOT to pick this restaurant? It sounds fun. We usually go for atmosphere when choosing a restaurant. Also, I want to see the Electrical Water Pagent too. How can i find out what time it is in order to make an appropriate ADR for O'hanas?

TIA for any advice. This is our first trip to WDW and all of the choices seem overwhelming!

PS: Any other suggestions for another table service meal? We'll probably budget for 3 sit down meals and counter service for the rest.

Well, we were there a couple of weeks ago at WL and the Electric Water Parade goes past there at about 9:35 and then on to Fort Wilderness. And I think it comes from the Contemporary before that so maybe it's at the Poly before that?

If you like atmosphere, I would suggest Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge. Good food and lots of interaction and fun. Also, you might like lunch at 50's Prime Time at MGM.

I sure wouldn't go to 'Ohana for the atmosphere. We were seated in a side room, up against a wall. There's no guarantee where you'll be seated ... so if you don't get a window table, you won't be able to watch the water pageant anyway.

We love Ohana's. Yum, Yum. Can't wait to go in about two weeks!!!
Here is some advice, eat earlier, then go out to their beach area and watch the parade while laying in the hammocks. That's what we did last time, it was so relaxing after walking all day in the park. It sure beats watching it through the window!
Have fun!

We were at 'Ohana in October and loved it! Its a fun place to dine and the food was yummy!! I ordered a Lapu Lapu....wow!!! It's a really good tropical drink served in a fresh pineapple! :thumbsup2 It gets a little loud during the kids games, but hey, its Disney!!! If my DH and I wanted quiet dining, we would stay home with the cats!!! :lmao:

I don't think you can see the water parade from the restaurant anyway. The big volcano may be covering up most of the lagoon. We like to go to the dock to watch it. We love 'Ohana and think it will be a great place for a birthday dinner. I would make ADR's any time right now but not wait too long because it seems like it is filling up faster now.

We LOVE Ohana. It's a must on every vacation and it's where we are bringing our family and friends for our wedding rehearsal dinner :) We love the atmosphere. We've also never been given a bad seat, and haven't asked for window seat either. Guess we're lucky. Anyhow two thumbs up!!

we tried it for the first time this last trip and while it wasnt out best meal - it wasnt our worst. the food was good - the experience was different and fun and the drinks were yummy! we timed it so that we ate and then walked around and then watched the water parade and then wishes - so all in all it was a great time!

We went as a couple and loved it! It is a great resturant, we were not at a window, but still saw somew bits of the water pagent, and Wishes was great!

Booked it for 7pm. That should (hopefully) give us lots of time to eat and stake out a piece of real-estate for the water pagent! Thanks for the tips and opinions everyone!
