What is it about O'Hana? I called this morning to make my reservations for our Jan trip and O'Hana was already booked for both days I tried, now I have to replace O'Hana with another restaurant. Is O'Hana that popular?

I did get the rest of my reservations that I wanted. It'll be my DH and myself and not sure yet whether we will do the basic Dining Plan or just pay cash for our meals.

Here's what I picked so far:

Jan 26th - The Wave (depends on my flight time we might have to cancel)
Jan 27th -
Jan 28th - LeCellier
Jan 29th -
Jan 30th - Narcoossee
Jan 31st - 50's Prime Time
Feb 1st - Yachtsman Steak House
Feb 2nd - (Leave for home)

Yup - it really is that popular!

Out of all of the ADRs on my last trip it was our least favorite too....I found that strange since everyone seems to want to go there...the dessert was amazing, but the rest was just OK, and I found the service terrible.

That being said every place has a bad night...some people love the place so it can't be all bad!! I just have too many other favorites to really bother trying to get another reservation there...

I agree that it's highly overrated. As the previous poster said, the dessert is incredible, but the rest of the dinner was kinda yucky for me. The meats were terribly tough and dry and everything else was sickenenly sweet - not my thing in foods that are normally savory. I wouldn't worry about not being able to eat there - you can find someplace better!!!

We love Ohana for the atmosphere and think the food is very good. But I agree that it doesn't really earn the right as one of the hardest to get ADR's around! I think people just love all that meat. We are a nation of carnivores! To me, the meat is the weakest part of the meal, I am all about the salad, sides and dessert.

I have been trying to get a dinner for our October trip and couldn't (had one but it was a crummy time so I cancelled) and finally gave up remembering that in the end, its not the end all be all!

I did book a breakfast, we do enjoy the atmosphere of the Poly so at least we can do that.

Ohana is very very popular and with good reason. I love dinner there. It is a must for every trip! Keep trying to book it. Someone might cancel. You still have time.

I think what is going on with Ohana is the same with Le Cellier. They are both so popular and difficult to get an ADR now that everyone feels like they have to try to get in them - whether or not the menu appeals to them.

We LOVE Ohana's:love::love: We actually always make sure we eat there twice when we go!!!:banana::banana: Just keep calling, someone will cancel........ Good luck!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

yes it really is that popular! the only reservation open for my upcoming trip this dec. was at 9:30 pm...but going to 'ohana is a must on every trip for me so i took it. also, the last time i went to disney, we had to eat there late and it wasn't bad, but i would much rather get an earlier reservation!

a ton of people talk bad about it but i love it! i love the atmosphere and my food and service has always been great...but then again, i am at WDW when i eat there, so how much can i really complain? when i am there, i am not expecting everything to be perfect (i mean i know its disney but the servers and chefs are real people and i'm sure they have an off night every now and then)...but even though i don't expect perfection, i have always enjoyed myself!

We love Ohana!! keep trying online as well. I wanted a 7:30am for breakfast and didn't get one when I made ressies at the 180 mark and just last week the day and time opened up so I changed my ressie. Keep checking...people cancel and change all the time!

Ohana is one of the most popular Disney restaurants in terms of getting ADRs! But always keep trying because you'll never know when a cancelation may occur!

We went for first time in May and we LOVED it, keep trying we also went to Cape May mmmm the seafood is awsome:thumbsup2

Don't forget about Kona - We think it's one of the most underrated places to eat - it's delicious!

Based on our experience this past Dec, I swear you are not missing anything. :sad2:
I too was on a mission to secure the infamous and elusive Ohana and (Chef Mickey's) reservation for our trip this past Dec. After weeks of checking and rechecking I finally got them:banana:... and they were both terrible (in terms of both food and service):sad2:.
That being said, if you really want to try Ohana for yourself, definately keep checking. We are leaving in a little over 2 weeks (and during Free Dining:eek:) and I have been able to get a few traditionally difficult to get places in the past week. :)

Most people there go to watch the fireworks at MK while they eat. Kids get to joina konga line and get Hawaiian leis. I find the meats a bit dry. The banana bread with vanilla sauce is great!

Keep trying but for some strange reason I think at O'hana's its easier to get a ressie for 5 than 2 (I tried and tried to get ressies last year for 4 no such luck and this year my MIL is going with and ressie for 5 no problem)

What we do if we get a dry overcooked piece of meat is place it in the bones bowl and ask for more. Last year was the first time DD26 and her family tried it, their first year on FD. My SIL said he could eat there everynight. I must admit we stuffed ourselves. DD24 and I weren't hungry til dinner the next day. We joked how we love to go there for Superbowl for the wings and the Lapu Lapus. It's been said that they don't open all the tables at the 180 day advance date. So please keep checking. I made our ressies for Sept back in March.

Honestly, we don't LOVE 'Ohana overall, but I am trying to snag a last minute reservation for next week just for the wings, noodles and dessert.

Thanks everyone for responding.

It's no big deal if we don't land the reservation at OHanas. I've eaten there several times for breakfast and really enjoyed it so thought it would be nice to try eating there for dinner. If we don't get the reservation that's ok we'll go somewhere else.
