What kind of "antics" go on during the meal?

I'm looking at it as a possible back up if I need to reschedule Kona for my birthday dinner, but I'm concerned about the activities that go on during the meal. How disruptive to the meal is it?

It's not really antics (like at WCC or 50s PT). There is an MC on a mic that sings some songs and leads the kids in hula hoop contests and coconut races through the restaurant.

The restaurant was fairly loud when we went and interactive. There were times when it was hard for us to hear each other but we were sitting pretty close to the person singing/leading the games. It's not disruptive to your meal - the food keeps coming out and you're welcome to sit and talk while the kids go racing by or when the person is singing.

this is one of the MOST POPULAR restrauants and to get in here you have to book the earlist you can...so i do not know how you can use this as a backup...

I don't think it's that bad in there. The little show they do does not bother us, I think it's cute. The only time I can it gets a little loud is when the kids do the little parade thing. If you really want to go there book it asap and use Kona as a back up.

I agree. We booked a faily early dinner 5:15ish in 2007 and it wasn't busy at all. It picked up A LOT during the end of the meal but if you get there early enough, you should be ok. Same with Kona Cafe.

Its not really disruptive but it you are worried then ask to be seated in the corner right where you walk in. We went for my dad's birthday a couple years ago and we were seated in tht corner. You can barely hear the MC and you can't see the events going on.

As mentioned above, there really aren't any antics by the servers (like at WC or 50's Primetime). There is an engaging singer that strolls around and leads the kids in hula lessons and coconut races.

It's very cute, but if you're going without kids, I'd request a table away from the aisles where the action is taking place. They do the races and such in the aisles. If your table is near there it will be noisy (the singer talking/kids laughing) and parents will may want to stand near your table to take pictures which may bother you.

Ideally, a seat right by the windows would be very nice, if you can get one.:thumbsup2 We really enjoyed 'Ohana. The food is good and the atmosphere is fun. (They also have a nice menu of "tropical" drinks ::yes:: )
