I just read on another thread that the window view of MK is now blocked by a volcano.. I am guessing from the pool area. I booked this place at 8:15 so that we could try for a window seat to be able to watch Wishes while we are eating. Can Wishes still be seen from Ohana? Or should I book an earlier mealtime? The ONLY reason we are eating so late is for Wishes.:cutie:

We were able to see Wishes from Ohana when we were there last December, but we were not directly at the window, kind of back a bit. One thing they did not do however, was to pipe in the music so it kind of takes away alot from the Wishes experience, but it was nice to watch and of course you can see the castle change colors.

It may depend on exactly where you are seated. DD and I had breakfast at Ohana is May, and, although we could see the volcano at the pool, we could also see the castle from our window table. I would think you'd still be able to see Wishes without a problem.

The volcano doesn't significantly block the view of Wishes from the restaurant; it's just a partial occlusion.

I am pretty sure we could see MK fine in June and we have seen wishes from O'hana but like the beach much better.

IMO I would try to make an earlier ressie then head down to the Poly beach- that is one of the best views!

We have eaten at 'Ohanas many time and they have always piped in the the music and lowered the lights. The only time I heard they didn't was during MVMCP and MNSSHP - but I have also read that they did it during then also.

Not sure if there was a problem the night they did not pipe the music in or maybe they are changing this now.

What if you're staying at another resort and are eating only at Ohana? Could you eat and then walk down to the beach to see the fireworks?

Yes, you can walk out to the beach and watch the fireworks if you are not staying at the Poly. I think that would be a much better idea as you cannot guarantee you will get a table from which the fireworks can be seen.

Thanks -- just didn't want to do anything "illegal" at the Poly! :goodvibes

It's no problem exploring other resorts, eating at their food courts, renting boats/bikes--almost anything except swimming in their pools.

I'd like to try to Poly beach sometime for the fireworks. We did 'Ohana last year, and while I'm glad we tried it once, it was only so-so. We did get a window seat, but they didn't dim the lights, they turned on the music late, and the windows were pretty heavily fogged with condensation, so it was like watching the fireworks through a veil. I think I just expected a lot more after reading so many great things about the view from 'Ohana.
