Any good reviews for Ohana? I understand they have changed their menu, and everyone seems to be less than receptive of it. This was one of our favorite places when we ate there a couple of years ago, and we were so looking forward to returning, but after reading some of the posts, I am wondering if we should forget it. And I almost cried when I heard no more pineapple w/ caramel sauce :(

Well I have only eaten there since the change but we loved it! Our favorite meal during our last trip. I can understand missing the pineapple but you might not be so lonely for it when you taste the bread pudding they serve now! I actually have seen a lot of good reviews of O'Hana. I think like all places it has its lovers and haters!

We never ate at 'Ohana's with the old menu so we can't compare but...we love this place! We just ate there on 2/24. My DH requested this be our first TS meal. We had a beautiful view of the castle, and the food was delicious! The sauces were to die for, wonton chips were good, we all loved the shrimp the best. The salad was very good, but we did not care for the chicken wings (very very sweet- like eating dessert!) The skewered meat made the trip worth it! My favorite is the potatoes. The bread pudding was excellent and the games for the kids make this a must do for every trip. This is one restaurant we will return to every time.

We love Ohana! We went when they had the new menu and loved it. The potatoes were yummy. The shrimp was good, a bit messy, but good. The chicken wings wer delish. We tend to be snackers so the wonton chips and dips were great. The skewers of meat were all good. Our faves were the beef and pork though. And the bread pudding was great. So good, my friend asked if she could just get a jug of the sauce. YUMMY! Sweetpea had a great time with the games and such. View is great as well. After we finished our meal, the sweetpea looked at me and told me that we definately are coming back.

'Ohana is our favorite restaurant and we try to visit several times a year. We love the food and games they have. Our new favorite is the bread pudding for desert and the turkey follows a close second.

A question for you guys; do they have chicken tenders and fries for kids??

We ate there last year before the menu change.... the only thing I liked about Ohana was the view. Some of the food was ok, but I think the overall experience of that was ruined by the service. Oh, and I am not a fan of pineapple, so I like that change. I know I'll like the bread pudding, but I do still wish there were other options for those that don't like (can't eat) certain foods.

That said, others in my group really liked the food then and said they'd like to go back. So, I called yesterday and got us a ADR for our trip in a few weeks. I'm pretty sure I'll like the new menu better, but I hope the service improves and the view is the same. (I booked a late dinner hoping to catch Wishes).

That reminds me, I forgot to tell them about my food allergy (no yummy shrimps for me  ) :confused3

My family and I were there this past January (2006) ........ the food was very good but I was very disappointed with the changes ....... I really missed the large tiger shrimp on skewers (that was my favorite), they do give you a bowl of shrimp in sauce that tastes good but the shrimp are smaller and you have to peel them (messy with all the sauce) ..... the sausage (which replaced the tiger shrimp) was bland in my opinion. ......... I also missed the way they used to present the meal (the "lazy susan" loaded with salad, wings, etc.), now they just bring it out in bowls (I know I'm knit-pickin but the old way just seemed more special) ........ I miss the pineapple/caramel dessert but the new banana bread pudding is very good. ....... Ohana's used to be my all time favorite restaurant and a "must do" every trip, now I think it's still a good restaurant but I'll probably skip it next visit.

I understand that you can still purchse the pineapple. Is this true? and if so...do you know how much it is?
Thanks!

My kids were able to order off the Kona rest. menu which is next door to the Ohana's. My kids got chicken fingers and fries but they had other options too. I also remember mac n cheese.

Count us for two people who never experienced the "old menu" but love the restaurant. We can't wait to go back.

I'm so glad to see all the positives about O'Hana's. After extreme amounts of deliberation I had picked it for one night for my group based largely on so many positive reports about it.

I think the day after my res was made there were suddenly tons of bad reviews! Thought about canceling. It's hard to be responsible for your whole group's plans (and some are adults), especially when I have no experience but only rely on that of all the DISers.

I've decided to keep it though. The little ones all set for Neverland, seeing the electric parade and Wishes on the beach after-wards, just sounds too good. I hope the negative reviews help them decide to shape up?

Sometimes it causes me to second guess but I sure love all the info on this board.

We love O'hanas. DS 16 and DD 14 consider it as one of their favorites. Say hello to Chef Kim for us. When he found out that our daughter was doing a project on Hawaii he located a lovely woman from Hawaii to talk to her (and brought her a real flower lay - how very kind). He also helped her with the hoola dance so she could teach her class. The people were great. The food was great. While we did miss the pineapple the new banana pudding was wonderful as well. We will definitely go back next time.

We last ate there in Sept. for the Char. Breakfast. I thought the food was very good and my DD2 enjoyed it very much!!

When kids get meals from Kona's menu, are you charged that price or still the kids' price for Ohana's?

I am REALLY not crazy about bananas.... I love fruit, but for some reason, bananas have always been my least favorite.

I think I read once that the banana bread pudding has a banana foster sauce on the side. Is the actual bread pudding banana flavored, also, or is it just the sauce (with  ) that can be left off?

Just curious....

Thanks-

HS
