"Ohana...yay or nay?

I vote Nay!!! The starters and dessert are good, but the meats are dry and overcooked. There are too many other good restaurants at WDW. We won't go back anytime soon.

We love 'Ohana and try to go there several times a year. We feel the food is good and if the meats are ever dry, just ask your server to get you more that haven't been cooked so much. They can melt in you mouth if they are cooked right. We like the atmosphere and enjoy playing some of the games if there aren't many kids participating.

We have always loved Ohana's. I missed it last July because we went to see the Space Shuttle Launch and spent the day at the beach instead of MK (we were there for 2 weeks so it wasn't like we missed anything). We did however not make it back for my PS at Ohana's. This year I'm excited to try the new changes. I will miss the huge grilled shrimp and Pineapple & caramel, but I'm also excited to try the new things. That's what makes life interesting.

I love dipping some of the meats (especially the steak) into the peanut sauce! YUMMY!

We LOVE it! Just tryed to make an ADR for there today. They said Id have to call back at the 180th day out. I thought you could make all adrs at once!

hmmm....looks like you either love it or hate it. Guess we'll have to try it out ourselves and see. But, I must admit, the old menu looked much better than the newer one. Maybe they'll change it back before we go.

Thanks for all the replies.

we have eaten there 3 times now and loved it each time. The first time was with the old menu, i did like this one because you could have a choice of deserts not just the bread pudding and as i'm a chocoholic this isn't to my taste.
I also liked the fact that our two children are quite shy and the cm's here don't try to push them into playing the games.
Only complaint was last time we went they didn't offer an alternative for the kids which they have done on previous occasions, again not sure if this is because of the new menu. But that will not stop us from going again infact we liked it so much we are booking to stay at the poly for two nights just so we can have a nice meal there and hubbie can indulge in the lovely Lapa Lapa's (my favourite).

I completely agree - tell the server that it's dry and they will rectify. Some people are content just to suffer through bad food. Most places want you to be happy and will do their best to satisfy you (within reason, of course). Usually the server will ask how everything is - take this opportunity to voice your displeasure. If they don't take care of it - ask for the manager.

All of the meats we had were juicy and delicious. We loved the scalloped potatoes, I think we ate 3 giant servings of them. Overall it was a great experience.

I really wanted to try Ohana because I love to visit the Poly and love the atmosphere so last trip my sons and I went. We had a nice table, near the windows and were able to see part of the fireworks. The restaurant of course was very loud and my boys are a bit too old for the goings on, but it was fun to watch.
Our server was friendly, but overwhelmed with tables, so it was rapid fire service. We totally enjoyed the appetizers, I loved the salad. The skewers were a bit of a disappointment for us however. None of us liked the taste of the turkey or the sausage and the steak was ok. The pork tenderloin was rather tasty, but all in all the skewer part was a let down.(I had high expectations). The bananas Foster was pretty darn good :goodvibes

The overall consensus was that Ohana was our least favorite table service meal, but was it awful - no....just not as spectacular as I had imagined. We liked the surroundings, so we might be back sometime.

Oh my, a big yay from us. The kids had a ball. Nothing embarrasing - just fun games. The food was absolutely excellent. And they catered to my vegetarian requests too. Just all around an excellent experience.

We  'Ohana! I just changed our ADRs for our last night from Whispering Canyon to 'Ohana :cool1:

We eat there every trip. This last trip we were there with 17 of us and it was probably the best time we had there! Definately the best meal of the trip!! :thumbsup2 We love it there!!

We eat there every time we are at WDW. As a matter of fact that is the first ADR I make. We were just there about three weeks ago and timed it perfectly - we were by a window and able to watch the Wishes firework display (and they play the audio from Wishes in the restaurant). Couldn't have been better!! We'll be back in December and the ADR is already made. :thumbsup2

Enjoy! pixiedust:

Another "NAY"......i ate there in May; can't say i would ever go back. The service was poor at best, and frankly the food wasn't very good.

I call it A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ther very good YAY!!!! Same here cncDisney4 :cool1: :cool1: :moped: :moped: :dance3: :dance3: :furious: :furious: :joker: :joker:   :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Yay! Ohana had the best food I've ever eaten. I recommend it to everybody. It's like my favorite restaurant in the world now lol. Definitely the highlight of my trip (restaurant wise).

The wait was long, but sooooo worth it. The view was AMAZING. We went at night and could see the parade going on in the Magic Kingdom, fireworks and all. The food is family style, they bring it right to you, no ordering necessary. There are like 5 courses, so pace yourself lol. Atmosphere - terrific. The firepit is awesome. Kids will like it because there are a lot of food choices and they do a luau conga line parade thing for the kids complete with free leis! Definitely a photo op moment. I cannot say enough good things about Ohana.

We love Ohana! Good food, great atmosphere and great entertainment.

Here is another big ole YAY!

I've been there almost every visit. I've gone with coworkers and I've gone with DH. Almost always everyone LOVES it.

What is so great about it? Well everytime I've been we get to see wishes from our table. It is very "disney" to me. The atmosphere is just amazing. I love the themeing all around the Poly. The staff has always been friendly and there is a lot going on for entertainment yet its not annoying. The food is fun too.

Give it a try!

Definately a yay! We've eaten there twice, once with the kids and once without. 2 different experiences but both wonderful. When my husband and I ate there for our Valentines trip, we were also treated to some fireworks from over by the Wedding Pavilon. We always make our res. for 5:00 and have always been seated by the window overlooking the lagoon and volcano pool. We're early eaters and have had wonderful servers. The food, in our opinion, is very good....they practically have to roll us out of there! It's a must for us each trip now.

I would like to express my great disappointment over dinner at 'Ohana.
Meats and shrimp were more than a little well-done
