I have never been able to get a reservation at Ohana. Our trips are always last minute and OHana is always booked solid. We did walk up once, we waited about an hour. Last time we went we were told the wait is anywhere from 1-4 hours, so we left. Have you walked up & waited, how long was your wait? Do they just give the scary time to shoo people off?

The issue with Ohana is that it is the one restaurant that seems to get behind on seating the most. People often are waiting past their ADR times just to be seated, so there is often no real way to "squeeze" in a walk up. So, no, it is not a scary time to shoo people away. When you have those with ADRs waiting an hour or so to be seated (and yes, there are reports of that), then 4 hours for a walk up isn't that far off.

A couple of trips ago we had an ADR there for 5:00( 'Ohana opening time that night). I was at the podium and the couple in front of me were a walk-up and were told it was a 2 hour wait. Now what really blew my mind was that was without anyone having been seated yet! So that wait time was based strictly on ADR's. But I will say that the place was full so I don't believe it was a scare tactic.

I made my ADR's early, and was able to get the exact day and time I wanted for Ohana. Unfortunately, things changed a bit with our itinerary, so I had to try to change my ADR's around. Ohana was THE single hardest one to change. I ended up have to move everything around more than I had needed the first time, just to be able to get into the restaurant...and the ADR times were ridiculously late (like 9 pm). I did end up getting a 7:15, but not on the day I really wanted.

My point: I would not try walking up there.

Last trip it took me 3 weeks to get a reservation at all for our trip and that was 3 months out! We ended up waiting about 30 minutes even though we had an ADR.

Last Spring Break we walked up and they said it would be a 2-4 hour wait. We grabbed some drinks form the bar and just hung out. By the time we were done with our drinks and visiting the gift shop (prolly an hour or so), our table was ready.

HOWEVER, we were there pretty early, at about 4:00 which is about when they start seating for dinner, and the place did not seem very packed at all. I think often times people make reservations and do not make them because they are held up at the parks. So I think you may have a pretty good chance of getting in at about an hour's time.

'Ohana is one of the hardest places to get a walk up. It's pretty difficult to even get an ADR anymore if you don't book at your 180 days. Everytime we've been there checking in people trying for walk ups are either denied or told it will be a very long wait.

Personally, I would never try to walk up at Ohana and actually expect to eat there. The place is a mob, and for good reason, I'd wait an hour for those wings and the bread.

If it were me, and I had no ressies, AND I was willing to give up 2 hours of my time to wait I would try maybe a Monday night, and a later time, like 9:30ish, after the people who stay to watch Wishes leave.

I wish they would open for lunch. I think we are going to try to walk up anyway. Last time we only waited about an hour, and they have a great bar. I will try going early when they first open. Thanks! Unfortunately I dont have the ability to book a trip 180 days out, so I will never be able to get a ressie there. I have tried with each trip and never been successful. This time we are going during low season, maybe that will help. Cant hurt to try.

We usually always have an ADR when we go, but like you said, the closer to your trip you try to book it, is it usually not available. There were two occasions that we did try to get a walk up when we were not able to get an ADR. The first time was when we went on a trip in May and we were told that there is no availability at all. The second time was when we went on a trip in Jan. they did have availability, but said there would be at least a 2 hour wait. We did not want to wait that long, so we left.
