Ohana Review Retraction

Just checking to see what anyone thinks of the Character Breakfast at Ohana's.:wizard:

I had to go with my third choice and hoping I make everybody happy:cheer2:

We went there on the 8th. Yes, there were fried pork dumplings (which were really tasty... my 8 month old agreed) and lo mein (aka: the peanut/pineapple pasta). My husband loved the lo mein and asked for seconds. I thought it was really good, but do not remember there being any pineapple in it. And there were not whole peanuts...

The bread pudding was still being served and it was excellent. Our server was wonderful and we were not rushed at all.

Hope this info is helpful!

I am glad to see not everyone loves the changes. My husband made me feel I was crazy for not wanting to go back after the last trip. I missed the wontons. Yes, I know that's little but that was why I kept going back. We have eaten there at least 5 times. I think its time to move on.

I'm for the old menu

Which old menu? :rotfl:

We haven't been there for years. I remember the fuss about the potatoes and getting rid of the pineapple for dessert. I love cheesy potatoes and bread pudding! So I would have been fine.

Now, they are making changes again.......I love peel and eat shrimp (the server can just TRY and keep up with my DD), love lo mein noodles (even if there is pineapple in them), and I would probably prefer the bread pudding but if they have the pineapple again that would be great too!

I'm sure it's not the perfect menu for me, but there is still a lot to like (for my family that is)

You know what I realized..........I think I'm there for the meat. I loved it last time. I can't help it, I love protein. And the rest of the meal is like the whipped cream and cherry on top of the sundae.

I'm sorry OP that you don't like the changes. I do know how that is........Chefs used to have the best quiche. Huge pieces that were cut out of a pie, you know? Like a triangle. Now they have it in a single portion tart dish so you get tons of crust. I love crust, but I want plenty of Quiche too! Oh, well. we just get the onion soup or don't go. So I do feel your pain.

Look do not get me wrong or flame me for saying the following because I looooved the potatoes and the dessert (even the orginal pineapple) but....

I think Disney is trying to make this just a tad bit more authentic by adding more asian influnced foods like the wontons and noodles (hence the pineapple and peanuts in the noodles as well) which is much more "Polynesian".. So for that I have to give them kudos. However, I have not yet tried it so I not compare it to anything. I remember the truning appetizer platter and the old food I loved as well Eventually I liked the new menu and grew to looooove it.

So I do miss the potatoes but I am willing to give the new menu a try before making a decision. be happy they didn't add Poi to the menu:rotfl:

I'm totally with ya on this one. It's not that they're replacing it with an equally yummy dish (IMHO) but I simply do not like peanuts.

So, let's see.

Welcome Bread - I hate coconut.

Salad - Yummy :lovestruc

Pork Dumplings in Sweet n Sour Sauce - I'd be willing to give these a try.

Honey-coriander chicken wings - These were okay, I didn't eat too many of them. They were too rich.

Some weird peanut pasta pineapple thing - No thanks.

The meats are fantastic, and now they're doing away with the bread pudding? So, I already hate a good portion of the meal. What gives? :headache: :confused3

WHAT? No Bread Pudding? I have no reason to go back now. :sad2:

I totally agree. We just returned from Disney and had dinner at O'hana for the 1st time. Now I know I don't have anything to compare it to because we have never been there before. We absolutely loved everything !:) I really loved the noodles and chicken wings. The only thing that I wasn't crazy about was the desert but I have never liked bread pudding. My husband is a bread pudding fanatic and he really enjoyed having it all to himself.:rotfl2:

I like O'hana so much that I made reservations again for our July trip.

PLEASE!
I think I could live w/ the other changes (the potatoes were fine, nothing spectacular, and I LOVE anything cheesy...my kids LOVE cheesy potatoes, but not one took seconds...)

BUT DON'T TAKE THE BREAD PUDDING!!!:rotfl2:

I was NOT impressed with many desserts at WDW, but this is a fav, up there w/ the almond crusted cheesecake at Narcoosees (and this from one who is not a gigantic cheesecake lover). I do love bread pudding, and it is one of the best I have ever had!!! (probably tied for best...)

Kept trying creme brulee, my FAV dessert, all over WDW...yuk. They make it a pudding consistency all over the World, and I prefer a traditional more custard-style. Le Chefs had the right vanilla bean flavor.
