'Ohana Reservation!

I am desperate! I really want/need a dinner reservation to 'Ohana between the 18th and the 25th.

I called 90 days prior to my check-in date and got pretty much every restaurant I wanted EXCEPT 'Ohana! And it's my absolute fav! A friend said it was because preferred diners get to book 120 days prior. Bah!

If anyone is planning on not making a reservation between those 8 days, please let me know and I'll gladly take it off your hands!

If not, we're gonna try and see if there's any cancellations one night before one of our other reservations. It's worth a try. Plus I've been told WDW restaurant hold a certain amount of tables a night for walk-ups. Anyone know if this is true?

That's my problem. Any suggestions??

Ugh that stinks! Keep trying!!

Who are the preferred diners? I have never heard of that, lol.

I think she meant people who bought the premium dining plan. But after a little googling, I've discovered that's not true. Which makes it even MORE ridiculous that I wasn't able to get ONE reservation time in the eight days I'll be there!

No, the restaurants don't hold any tables for walk-ups. You can call when you're at your resort and possibly snag a cancellation. That's probably your best bet. Or try showing up right when Ohana opens for dinner and see if you can get a table (4PM I think). I've heard that sometimes works.

The big problem you're running into is free dinning. It starts on 8/16. All the restaurants are crazy busy.

People staying on site can call 90 days before their trip and book for the next 10 days. If you're only staying 8 days that means you had less of a chance of getting into a popular restaurant than someone staying two days longer and calling two days before you did. :(

If you're staying off-site then you really didn't have much of a chance at 90 days.

Keep checking online. Stuff opens up when people cancel. You never know when you'll find something.

Le Cellier and Ohanna seem to be the most popular and hardest to book. Just yesterday I was able to book Ohanna for 5 people 73 days out then canceled Kona. Just keep trying and good luck.

I have tried during several visits to get into 'Ohana with no success.
For our trip this Sept I tried online at 6:00am at the 90 day mark, the only one I could possibly book was 9:10 pm on a Tuesday night. Which is way too late for DH and I. I even looked at booking for more than just the 2 of us, say a table for 3 or 4 and that wasn't available either. We have tried "walking up" and nothing would be available. Last time I tried a walk-up, at about 5:30pm, I was told to come back after 7:00 and they would see if they could fit us in but even then it wouldn't be till about 9:30pm.

I keep trying every day in case there is a cancellation. If I am able to book, but have to do it for more than 2 people, I'll offer the extra seats at our table to any Dis'er who would like to join us.

Yaaaaayyy!!!! Thank you so much.

Yeah. This is the first year I've ever had a problem getting a reservation. Last year I wasn't able to make our reservation because my friends and I didn't have the dining plan so they backed up because they didn't have the money. So I had to cancel our reservation. But 2007, 2006, 2005 I never had a problem. There was usually SOMETHING open. I guess people are right, it must be the free dining that's messing everything up!

I couldn't get 'Ohana for my trip 9/11-9/19 and I called right at my 90 day mark. (Well, there was one for like 9:40 pm but that just doesn't work for us.)
Anyway, I kept checking online and when I searched our entire date range, I found one for Friday 9/11 at 6pm! I hadn't checked that day before because I figured there'd just be no way, what with the 90+10 people having a head start on me, plus it was a Friday night which may attract the locals.

So my advice is to keep checking. During free dining, you'll see a lot of signs saying "no walk-up's accepted" so don't count on that strategy. Getting there at restaurant opening is worth a try, as is trying to get an ADR while you are there.

And finally, I don't know who you've been getting your info from, but it isn't accurate! Trust the DIS'ers all the way!

I think one of the problems is the combo of the 90 day window and the online reservation system. I was listening to the dis unplugged a couple of weeks ago and one of the podcast team said he was able to walk up to Le Cellier for lunch and get in. He also mentioned that there was empty tables there as well.
Hopefully with it going back to 180 days, it might be easier to get some of these ADRs.

I would say that persistence pays off when it comes to Ohana...i've been trying nonstop to get a reservation there for our trip next week to no avail. Just yesterday I did my routine search for Ohana and came up with nothing. Having pretty much resigned myself to not ever getting the Ohana reservation, I began searching for Kona as I keep hearing great things. Lo and behold, the ADR system showed nothing for Kona, but gave me Ohana as an ALTERNATE suggestion!! :rotfl:

Now I have a reservation for 4 for Ohana's for next Thursday! :cool1:

Does party size make a difference when trying to get ressies for OHanas?

We are a party of 8 and will be more then willing to split into two parties of 4 if we need (I dont recall seeing large tables here)

and not enough tables for 2 people-- could be why a party of two is having a hard time getting reservations coz theyhold 4 people???

for some time for a party of 8 and just got one 2 days a go for sept 2nd at 5:15

i hope you find one:cheer2:

How many are in your party?

I also called when we were 90 days out, as soon as reservations opened, and I couldn't get Ohana until our 7th (and last) night at WDW. Our ADR is for 8:50pm, really late for DD10, but it was either that or nothing...so I kept it.

I've continued trying almost every day to try and snag a better time for the dates we're there, but to no luck.

I really hope you end up with an ADR there and that someone on these boards can help you!

How many are in your party?

Two adults. I called again this morning to see if there were any cancellations. But, alas, it still is not meant to be.

If it is, then it'll work out. If not, well, it's not the end of the world.

I just looked at your ticker and realized you are going in August. I have a table on the 25th of Sept that I don't need and am going to cancel. Sorry! Good luck and have a great trip!

S'okay. Thanks anyway. I appreciate the thought.
